What are the pros and cons for inserts or just plain finger tip holes.. do you get more revs or what? just want to know

Grips are softer, so it will hang on your fingers a tad longer giving your more lift and more revs (in most cases).  However, they wear over time thus changing the feel and from ball to ball they will feel different depending on how much the grips are used.

I think you get out of the ball cleaner with no grips.

In the end, it comes down to personal prefence.
