Midwestern Junior Tournaments
« on: January 27, 2011, 10:54:32 AM »
I'd like to first start off thanking Eric of Bowlingchat.net for providing us with the space to host our website.

For those of you that haven't heard of these tournaments before, let me tell you a little about them.  We're kind of a new tournament, as we started up December of 2009.  We took a little bit of a break after 4 events, but we're back.  As of October 2010, we've held 4 events.  These events are held in St. Louis, Missouri, and feature a $35 entry fee.  Thus far, we've held all of our events at the Brunswick Zone located in Chesterfield, MO.

In the first four events of our 2010-2011 season, we have given out a total of $2,055 in scholarships.  We guarantee $200 for first place, in addition to the winner receiving a Brunswick Slingshot.  This past tournament, we were able to give the winner a Brunswick Anaconda.  Next month's tournament, which will be held February 13th at Brunswick Zone Chesterfield, will simultaneously host a Junior Olympic Gold qualifier for just $10 additional to the $35 entry.

Format is simple. Bowlers start off bowling 6 games qualifying.  If there is more than 17 bowlers, we cut to the top 50%, then bowl 3 additional games.  Top 8 after these 3 additional games move on to the round of 8.  If there is 16 or fewer bowlers, we move straight to the round of 8 after 6 games qualifying.  Round of 8, bowlers bowl 2 games, and the best overall total moves on to the round of 4.  Round of 4 matches are filmed, and they take place on a fresh TV pair. Round of 4 is a best of one game match.  Winners of these matches move on to the finals, which is another best of one game match.

We pay out in a 1:3 ratio, and as I said before, we do guarantee $200 scholarship for first place.  We offer scratch and handicap divisions, if we get 10 entries in each division.  If we don't get enough in one division, all bowlers will bowl handicap.  Handicap for the February tournament is 90% of the difference in the bowler's 2009-2010 average and 190.  In March, it will change to 90% of the difference in the bowler's 2010-2011 average and 190.

If you would like some more information about these tournaments, check out our website at http://www.mjt.bowlingchat.net or feel free to e-mail me at MJTBowling@Gmail.com

Tournament flyers can be viewed and downloaded through the website above.

Our next tournament will be held at Brunswick Zone Chesterfield on February 13th, and it will feature the US Open pattern.  Once again, this will be a Junior Olympic Gold qualifier.
