Has anybody seen the Droid on the lanes.....

The ball actually moved like the video.....  Get through the lanes smooth without any problem and comes back with serious hitting power.... Havent seen anything like this in years....

Droid is good but in my opinion the pearl is even better. It has better mid lane read than any other pearl that I have owned and is an absolute steamroller on the back.

When I saw the topic I thought "Why are we talking about cell phones on a bowling related only forum!?" Had no clue that Lane#1 released a newer ball called Droid. Looks like a fairly strong but controllable ball. Love the color combo on it too, screams attention which is what I love in ball looks.

The Droid has been out for almost exactly a year now, it's "old"...lol

Yet I've never even seen one in person at my local lanes or even at some local tournaments. Interesting.

Ditto for me. In fact, it is not often a person sees any Lane 1 ball around here. They are few and far between

Well, I can't say that I've seen a Droid in person either.  I don't see much from any of the smaller companies.  The market is dominated by the Big 3.

Lane#1 isn't a readily available manufacture around here like they used to be. 5-6 years ago Lane#1 had a huge explosion locally and for a while that's all you'd see. Since most shops stopped pushing them I occasionally see an older Dirty Bomb or something like that. Most I see now are Brunswick, Storm, and Hammer with some Ebonite, Columbia 300 and Track mixed in.

Mike, good observation. For better or worse, the big 3 provide various incentives to pro shops that can't be matched by the little guys, so who gets the wall space??

It's a shame. Just take for example, Motiv. They're producing probably the most complete line of balls from any company, yet in many areas they're a rarity. The problem is that most bowlers are not enlightened enough to do their own research and try the smaller companies, and you see it on the lanes.

Yeah definitely not a good thing to be the little guy trying to make it in bowling these days. I've again seen only a couple Motive balls on the lanes and the 1 time I did see the ball the owner of it was having a tough time getting the pins to carry. When you're the only one using an almost unheard of brand you better make that ball look good because seeing 1st hand is believing for most people.
