Bowling Centers having low end Reactive Balls
« on: August 18, 2007, 08:49:46 AM »
Would it be a good idea for bowling centers have low end reactive balls for open bowlers to use?

I see so many open bowlers trying to spin the #$!! out the house balls. Trying to get it to hook and having little success.

It might spark some interest and get them heading towards league bowling.

It could be a good place to dump old reactive balls.  Even a dead reactive ball probably outhooks a worn out lane master or whatever the plastic house balls are these days.  However, what are the lightest reactives availabe?  will it be light enough for the beginer woman or child to use?

A lot of houses have old balls on the rack.  Stuff that people have left that they don't want.  We don't, though it's a relatively new house and people here don't seem to hate a ball quite like at some other centers.

I know at one center I bowl in actually takes old balls and throws them away. If someone leaves a ball there, you may see it for about a week and then it is gone.

But if I owned a Bowling Center, I would be afraid of the balls walking out the door if they were low grade reactive.

It does sound like a good idea though. You may even be able to make a deal with Big B to fill the house with better equipment at a reduced price. It is a good thought, but I doubt that you will see it happen.

I think the main factors, why they use urethane instead of resin, are expense and longevity. Resins are still more money and they do not last anywhere near as long as resin balls. Many bowling centers still cut corners like Scroooge McDuck.
