I think that is the start of a catchy song.

It also is the secret to the success of my home center of putting out a beautiful and completely unpredictable shot for their leagues.

One oiling in the morning most mornings and then bring in the daily play.

Backup balls, bumpers, plastic and then let your top bowlers have at it!

Oh boy!

I just found this out not realizing that they did not oil before league play.
No wonder from week to week it's a crap shoot!  No wonder guys bring in 8 balls!

Whereas the places I've bowled before that oiler came out at about 5:30 and open play stopped and then league one started and league two followed!

Fresh pristine yum!

I would hope people just "put up" with these situations. For me, I dont care what conditions I bowl on---easy, tough, foul---doesnt matter. You get 30 frames, I get 30 frames. If Im bowling opposite you, I get the same good or bad shot that you do. Bowling is great in that sense as far as leagues go. You may have no control over approaches, lane conditions, temperature in the bowling alley, etc, etc, etc---but your opponents have the same amount of control that you do.

We have a house that oils the lanes first thing in the am and thats it---they can get strange, but shiz happens.

A house I bowled a Sunday night mixed league in had this oiling schedule---Oil Friday before leagues. No reoil Saturday---junior leagues, open bowling, and sometimes a travelling league, then Rock and Bowl. Sunday, no reoil---pot games Sunday morning, open bowling and birthday parties all afternoon, then my mixed league. Imagine what that shot looked like---it was my favorite league because it was my toughest league.
