Regarding what is a "good bowler"?
« on: August 14, 2003, 02:42:37 AM »
Can someone be a "good bowler" from repetitive behavior, years and years of doing something over and over, more than hand/eye coordination or some other factor?

LT, but, I'm a little surprised you'd say something like that. Because, a ball reaction/condition that doesn't change, usually will give you high scores. It seems that you're against that.

I would like to comment on your "fair condition that never changes" idea

There have been groups like Kegel and the PBA trying to achieve this condition for many years
Actually, Kegel and the PBA haven't really been trying to achieve this, because it produces high scores. And, the PBA players don't like scores to be too high.

But, in actuality, in my opinion, the fairest PBA tournament ever was in Erie, PA a few years ago, when they broke all the records for scoring. =:^D

A ball reaction/condition that does not change does not have to be an easy shot. It could still be a condition that requires a quality shot to hit the pocket. The dispute is on what is considered a quality shot.

And no scoring record would have been broken if they didn’t allow Learn to re-shoot a ten pin. But I suppose by your standards spares are superfluous and we should simply either give them or just push the reset button. No one wants to see spares shot, no excitement.

I good bowler is someone that throws the line that the shot gives them. If the shot is crank it then crank it, if the shot is "fluff it" then fluff it. I was always told a smooth release and the ability to adjust fro breaking down lanes is the key. So people have the ability to manipulate the wrists and hand positions to make one ball do it all, some cant which the rely on the tech nology to help them out. does that make the a bad bowler not if the get the job done! you are very ignorante to think that more people would want to see a tournament that only has people like robert smith and Rudy revs on it. In the one means league i bowl in most of the "good bowlers" wont watch the PBA because of people like them. Reality is equipment is good for the sport and if was so easy everyone would be a pro! but this only my opinion and isn't see as right to anyone else which is fine, cause we are allowed to have our own opinion. Thank you!
