Missing in
« on: January 30, 2009, 03:02:51 AM »
Quite often I miss my target to the inside.  It almost feels like the ball is squirting out of my hand past my pinkey like sand.  Is this caused by my swing getting to the line too early or late.  Or is my swing plane just off, like outside in or something.  Any suggestions?

When I was being coached by Palmer Falgren, the first thing he made me do was retard the swing. I had a tendency to tug it inside. I don't have that problem anymore.

Basically if I pushed the ball out too soon, it got ahead of my feet and made it to the line too quick.

Most often missing inside of the target is a sign of early timing. Your feet need to be a bit further ahead of your swing as you approach the line. Delaying the swing is one way to solve this. Being a bit more explosive with your feet is another.

Thanks for the input.  I figured it was something like that, ball ahead of the feet.  I'll have to concentrate on coming up with a consistent push away or starting point.  I have been focusing and changing so much other stuff that I haven't been paying attention to the start of the swing.

Thanks again.

Just practiced today and tried to start the push away more consistently.  My ball driller stopped by and took a look.  He noticed that I was forcing my backswing on the way down.  After letting gravity start the ball down I really began to feel it when I hurried the downswing.  Got the mail today and the btm this month was all about footwork and timing, go figure.  Thanks for the help, hopefully I can implement the changes.
