My wife is having a big problem this year in missing to the right on the first shot. It does not seem to matter where she has her feet, the problem is the same. I think it could be in her push-away but it's hard for me to see. Also, I have found that wives don't like for their husbands to try and give instruction. (If you're married you know what I mean)

So my question is, would a bad push-away cause you to miss to the right? She does not have this problem very much when throwing at most spares.

Bad push away could cause it. A bad push away could be causing bad timing as well. So there could be a few things that her bad push away could be causing. I hear you about the wife not wanting to hear anything from you. That's why I don't say anything until she asks for help.

Couple things you could look for. One is the push away and if she is looping the arm swing. The other thing might be that she is drifting left with her feet as she approaches the foul line and has to throw back to the right to hit her aiming spot because she drifted left. Her left shoulder would be ahead of the right shoulder which would cause the ball to go right to get it over to the mark

I sometimes have the opposite problem where I will drift to the right as I approach and have to throw back left to hit my spot because I drifted right. To fix that I check where I am at the line at release and then where I was at address and I can usually identify the drift.

I had the same problem with my wife also until she got frustrated and I said to her do you want me to watch you and try to help you fix the problem.

Could be starting the ball too far from her shoulder in the pushaway. The ball should line up with the shoulder joint. Too far inside and she has to loop the ball by nature, and if the ball is going around her back on the backswing she is going to naturally throw the ball to the right.

Could it be in her release. You already have advice about pushaway which is good advice, but one female bowler i coach has a tendancy of turing her hand way too soon, the hand comes around the ball thumbs down and the hand actually pushes the ball right.
