Needing help with shot adjusting
« on: October 11, 2003, 06:25:33 AM »
I am getting my backend kicked by dry backends.  The house I bowl at this year switched from a heavy oil pattern (my comfort zone) to a dry backend pattern.  This kills my Track Champ which hooks too much and then when I do get a good line it often burns out and I leave a lot of single pin spares.  I recently bought a Columbia Jekyll to give me more length, and it does just that but introduced a new problem.  This ball (for me at least) has a huge backend snap.  I find that I throw a good shot, and watch the ball leave 9 pin after 9 pin.  If I move my shot, I then either come in high or come in shallow.

My questions are one and many.  The only adjustment I've been able to think of is to move left to the second dot and throw the ball straight and hard over second arrow.  This way when my ball snaps, the snap is lessened by the faster speed.  I can do this, but feel cheesy because its basically nothing but throwing a straight ball.  Is this a proper adjustment, or is there another adjustment I can make to try to lessen the backend snap?  How do you combat dry backends?  And finally, is there something I should consider trying that Im not even thinking about?

I started this season averaging 205 and now am averaging 185.  I threw my second sub 500 series in 3 weeks and my teammates are quickly questioning me, but not nearly as much as Im questioning myself.  Help me out guys!
