Just read BrunsNick's post about shooting 278 with a Brand New Absolute Inferno. That got me thinking, what is the highest score you have ever shot with a Brand New ball with ZERO mileage(the very first game)? And which ball?

Mine is the Track EMB XF, the very first game I shot 220, the next game 20something. Not bad considering I averaged 160ish at the time. I have put this ball into retirement, but it stiil is one of the top three balls I have ever owned.

when i got the first hot rod by storm, went to the bowling alley, no practice, and shot a 300, one of the best balls ive ever owned, still cant figure out why i still dont throw it anymore, lol

Monster Smash/R -  299 first game and a 803 series. Drilled it up and didn't even work the thumb hole out, could not get it past the knuckle.

How many of you drill these things up right before league?  My first game with a ball is seldom over 200 - I am always trying as many different lines with the ball as I can to see how it will react from different angles. It's usually my 3rd game or so before I settle down and worry about score.  Even then, I think 260 somehing is my best.

I am surprised no idiot has said 300-300-300-900 right out of the box - Hits like a truck!

my first ball without finger grips was when i re-drilled my ultimate inferno with a new layout to boot: shot 257.

MY highest was with my power groove.  Had it drilled up, got a lane and shot a 225 with it.

Power Groove, shot 212, left a couple ten pins (which I couldn't spare because I didn't have my plastic ball).  I'd say the Power Groove is a quite a strong ball considering its price range.

I made a tenpin that was just sitting there when I got up for practice with my new Vicious Particle Pearl.

But for real I can't even remember.  I know the first night I drilled the Inferno I made 340 bucks with it(only paid 99NIB), and 250 more the saturday following.  Don't recall the score though.

I punched out a Ravage II threw a game at one house where I had it drilled and drove across town to bowl at the other center in town for league that night and walked it a little late and with no warm up shoot 300

Just drilled a Banshee for a guy and he went front 9, 279 with it first game.

I wasn't planning on posting in this thread, because my feeble memory couldn't come up with anything.

My memory problem was solved last night when I punched up a Lane #1 Hybrid Dirty Bomb and used it in league.  My first two practice shots were strikes, so I practiced with my spare ball after that.  Out of the box, I shot 279, pulling the ninth shot to leave a 4-pin.  I managed a 252 (yes, that's right - left the 3-6-7-9-10 on my fill ball) the second game.  Third game was more or less normal 214 for a 745, which may be my high series with a ball right out of the box.  I don't know for sure, though - that memory of mine . . .

To anyone wondering how many people really drill up a ball and then use it league, you can count me in that number.  I do it all the time.  I'm also not afraid to put it away if it isn't getting the job done.
