Moi? Pointing on Dry! No way
« on: May 20, 2014, 11:08:38 PM »
Frequently I have pointed on au jus in many a tournament and done quite well.

However for over 3 years in this center I have frequently swung left.  Often standing 29 or 30 throwing 3rd arrow.

All of a sudden My league shot has swing left of 10 and a wall of oil right at the 10 board.

Anything pulled down the 10 board line is a washout!  SO, last week I bowled with another lefty with about 4 revs and a strong ball pointing up the 5 board and he had no trouble and never messed with the dangerous 9 10 line.

I thought if I could try that?....hmmm?  But with my bigger hand and strong axis rotation probably no way!

This week I was throwing quite nicely and all of a sudden in game 2 my strikes all turned to 7 pins as my backend decrease and I went from my recent 9 to 5 shot to playing straight down 8.  The rolled out big angular backend reaction I can create would not carry.

I thought it is time.  Cut out about 5 or 6 inches out that bend!  I moved left of the center dot turned my heel a bit to the outside and felt like I was now throwing uphill right near 6 or 7 at the arrows and near 10 at the break.

I better be fast and get loft and keep the hand behind the ball.  Changing my normal 45 to 60 degree axis rotation to about 35!  I did it!

What an easier shot, 7 pins hitting the back  of the pin deck.  I didn't score the 240 I should have but I may have found a much easier way to play this shot.

My new pin up drilled glossy out of box Ebonite Cyclone makes this shot easier than any ball I have used before It pushes and creates a big backend with my bigger axis rotation or  a small driving backend move I love on the more direct shot.

Regards,

PS A couple of weeks ago in My first competition game with my new Cyclone I had 9 strikes right out of the box!  Playing 7-8 to 2-3 on a dryer version of the same shot! Nice pill!

i couldnt even finish reading this it was written so badly.  but what would help your over under reaction would be to use the correct ball. low RG with more surface. not a high rg polished pearl. it will blend out the pattern, be a more stable reaction and keep you out of trouble.

i had the same problem in my league this year. over walled house pattern where if i hit 9 i was washing out and if i hit 4 i was going through the face. my best friend was an IQ tour solid and vapor zone with the mass bias past my VAL bot hat 2000 dull

Wow.  Not only put another bowler and his style down, but managed to break both arms with this massive figjam.  Can anybody else chime in with the nights they should have shot 240 but didn't despite their near Einstein-like ability to analyze the lanes and figure out that as usual in a THS there is a ten board wide "bumper" to bank the shot off of and the Chris Barnes-like ability to adjust their hand, speed, and loft to make the shot required?    ::)
Long Gone also posts the honest truth which is why i respect him. He posts these things knowing some may not like it.
