Monday Nite Laughter
« on: November 07, 2006, 05:59:59 AM »
OK, so i'm bowling in my monday nite league, and im standing
left foot lined up with the left gutter...40 or so.(righty)  Im playing
4th arrow swinging to 5 at breakpoint, and hitting high flush.
well last few frames the manager of the alley and the lane maintanence
man were watching.  they came up to me and asked how the lanes were.
i told them  to put more oil out there.  they told me that they put
alot out and if they put anymore out it would be illegal.  i laughed so
hard and told them they need to read the manual on how to work that
machine and how to run the bowling alley.  he threatened to throw me
out of the league and kick me out of the alley for good...lol.  what
a joke!  and that shot i was using a Storm Razor Wire from game 1 to finish.
time to find new house i guess.

Other than the argument you got yourself into, that sounds very familiar.  So Gunny, how do YOU deal with the ball return being in the way when playing on the right lane?  "Give me oil or give me death" should be our motto.

sometimes i fluff the shot. but i dont get great action at the pin deck.
i mostly just stand in front of the ball return.  only problem is speed.
its hard to generate speed from a few steps.  lately though i have been
using that night as a practice night.  work on timing and other things.
dont care too much of score.

hmmm...never tried that.  i gonna try that!  maybe come in at an angle
instead of around it.  i guess i will try monday.  i know there wont be
any oil so might as well.  ive been thinking of pulling out my old
columbia U dot and see what it does.   heck u know what, i just
pulled out of my closet an old ebonite Turbo Urethane.  i bet it
might work on that dry lane condition.

If u try going from the other side of the ball return, do it WITHOUT a ball first!!!  I had a friend with this "bright" idea once, his backswing NAILED the ball return, hurt his fingers pretty bad(it hit him right in the knuckles).

Im not saying it cant be done, cause ive seen it done...rather well i might add.  Although, for ur first time, try it & see if u would normally hit the ball return with your swing.
