....is finally off my back! Bowled my first 300 at age 55(turn 56 in a couple weeks) after being close SOOOOO many times. What the really cool part about this was that my teammate in the #4 spot bowled a 300 immediately preceding my 300 in the #5 spot.... back-to-back first game 300''''s!! Don''''t see that everyday.... in fact, I have been bowling and working in this same house since 1991 and I have NEVER seen it! Had to let the commotion from his 300 subside a bit before I could even get up and try to get mine. All of his and my strikes were flush-pocket, though my last strike crowded the headpin enough that the 4-pin was last to fall. Yes... my knees were pretty wobbly AGAIN, even after a few deep breaths and trying to focus. Followed up with a 212 and 268, for a 780. Used the same ball(Jigsaw) all three games. Last week... after starting with a 279... left a flat-10 in first and second frame, so I decided the SMART thing to do would be to change balls. Shot 183 while searching for the shot again. Went back to the original ball and finished with a 245.... so much for my best thinking! I decided before practice tonight if I had a good look in the first game, that I would STAY WITH THE SAME BALL FOR ALL THREE GAMES! Best decision I''''ve made in bowling in a long time.... not to over-think and outsmart the shot. Our house does not see all that many 300''''s (because we put out a fair and legal shot all the time...no bumper bowling here!), though we do have a lot of really good bowlers bowling here. My teammate finished with a 207-201 for 708, and averages 225 here(and almost everywhere else in Atlanta). Almost everybody that came by for high-fives were FLOORED! when they found it was my first.... even two of my teammates didn''''t know until tonight that I had never before done it. Needless to say, I feel like a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders! And, believe it or not, I got a LOT of really good information from this forum! Thanks Ballreviews!!! r.k. wolfe
