Good, maybe the money they save can be put to good use through sponsorships and added prize funds to the tour and USBC tournaments itself.  Anything to help the sport's progression.  Maybe now people will realize that scores are not everything and do not equate to greatness.  It's not like you don't get an award to impress all of your good buddies with, you still get a plaque.  Save the rings for the 300s/800s/900s.  I hope they just put the money they're saving to a good use.

Well my take on this is, since everything is computerized, you should only get an award that is your lifetime highest.  This way if you do something you deem special the prize will be special also.  If you take away all the rings that Johnny Bowler gets and sells on ebay and put them into nicer first time awards it would make the accomplishment feel just like that....an accomplishment.  I do not want a patch for anything nor do I want a 300 ring every time I shoot one.  Save the money and place it into first time awards.

That does kind od stink for the 190 average bowler that has his one fantastic game and comes up a little short.  Maybe it would have been better if they went to a once in a lifetime award for the 298 and 299's.

fine with me.  even though i only have a 298 ring earned several years ago, it does not bother me if the usbc decides to do away with them.  the 800 ring is the only one that has any meaning for me anyway.  saw too many treys this year from way too many house shot wonders who think they are actually good.

once in a lifetime award, I think this is a good idea. No matter how good you bowl, shot a 300, you need some luck, more or less.

this is pretty silly since there are a lot of places and people that do not ever bowl these scores, now if they do finally bowl these scores all they get is that cheap @$$ plaque for 11 in a row.

I do not try to be negative....and rarely do I come out with a statement like this....but it couldn't be more true. All the saved money will do is go into the pockets of USBC officials.

Chad, I share the same feeling. If I need to get an award that is worth bragging about. I go bowl in a regional and earn that first place.

So, what exactly does sactioning with USBC get us now. I've got a bunch of 700's and a couple of 100 POA but I've only seen 1 watch and 2 patches. It's nice getting meaningful awards. Maybe the USBC should still give rings for 298 & 299 for the bowlers who get their first one and a plaque after that.

Well, I better get busy. Only six weeks left in this season.

I'm pissed for a completely different reason.  I wanted to get a 298 ring because the stone was green.

*sigh*

Any word on still being able to purchase gold 298/299 rings from Keepsake?

300,800,900 and 7-10 split. Only scores I deam as needed to be rewarded. For most face it they are dust collectors or never see the light of day. Maybe make a different list for bowlers under 185avg. What do you get for shooting a hole in one?

The USBC organization exist primarily to regulate and govern the sport not to give out awards. That is why yuo sanction.

They should have cut back to one lifetime award a long time ago. and They should even eliminate the 11 in row plaques.

For me, I have an 11 in a row plaque so no big deal, but for most guys I bowl with it would be a big deal if they didn't get a plaque.  I kind of like the idea of getting each award once in a lifetime.

If this is true, it's rediculous, and a slap in the face to the average Joe Bowler. Personally, I don't care if I ever get another award from the USBC, But I feel bad for the guys bowling a couple nights a week that have never had one!
