The only good piece of advice I can give you is that the longer and/or heavier the pattern, skid/flip is either not possible or desireable.
What are you using on the pattern right now? That will give us an idea of what your definition of medium to med/heavy is and how much backend you are used to. A profile with your stats would be a huge help as well.
If you want backend, you probably want to stay with reactive. If it's med/heavy, you might want one of the newer strong reactives drilled to flip and adjust the cover accordingly.
