Maybe I just do not know....
« on: October 28, 2010, 07:12:34 AM »
Seems I may have ruffled a few feathers around town lately. I am a professional bowling coach, IBPSIA pro shop technician and former pro shop operator. I see a lot of people that come to me with problems.  Everything for blood blisters, blisters, pinched nerves, dropping the ball and other problems.  A large part of the issue is the so called standard ball drilling. 3/8 left 0, 3/8 right 0 and the thumb with 3/8 reverse, 0 regardless of span.  I ask of my students that they have their equipment checked and not to settle for this so called standard drilling. I ask that they understand what is going on and to ask questions of their ball driller.  Do not except generic work. I had someone say to me that I can not say something is drilled incorrectly and that the driller never looked at your hand or game.  I think I am qualified to make that judgement. Can someone give me a reasonable explanation why these drilling are so common and considered correct for the customer?  Why do some pro shops automatically drill like this rather than measure the customer and drill the ball correctly?
