without a doubt in my humble opinion....

I think that there is a tie between the Crunch and the Thrash. If either of those had been released at the beginning of the season they could have been the best selling balls of that year maybe.

OH---and my darkhorse----The Hex Darkside.

I would have to go with the groove. Buddy got one and improved his game by 25 pins easily. And the reasonable price on the ball helps too.

Any of the Gargoyle series, those three alone with proper drilling and surface prep you can conquer all conditions for tourny and league alike.

...OR

Anything from Visionary period!

Would you give everything up, just to do it all over again?

The Predator Jungle Green, if drilled right, is very under rated

Eraser Pearl Particle. Great ball and haven't seen many of them around.

Silver streak Particle!! a truely early rolling oil ball, also the silver streak pearl. ball with big backend. Crunch is a pretty good choice too.

Can't argue with the power groove nomination either. most bang of the buck on the market. Hot wire was good, needed polish tho. The AMF Triumph was a good one as well. Visionary Gryphon particle, my personal favorite. lol YA!

Most highly rated ball of the year is the X factor Deuce.

It is also the most underated.

If drilled properly to control it's power it may be one of the best balls of all time when matched up to the conditions of the time!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS I think my Dynamic Groove is still better than the Power groove, and it was lucky if 5 friends of relatives of Brunswick bought them!  I'm one and I'm not a relative!

Warp Zone! Y'all just don't realize how good this ball is. I usually hate particle balls, but this one is amazing. Versatile - Predictable - HITS.

Predator Jungle Green for the money cannot beat the performance, hook and hitting power.

brunswick monster frenzy----short of a flood i could really get this ball to work. down and in on fresh oil or hook the ball on medium/drier condtions. plus it's cheap.

I don't know if it can be considered underrated, since most posts give it high ratings, but I will add another vote for the Predator Jungle Green. Cheap, powerful, hard hitting, and fairly versatle. I know many people out there avoid Ebonite, but this is one ball that should be considered by anyone.

I know they weren't new in 2003, but the Ebonite V2 line up still rules where I live with the new Hammers next. I already have a couple V2's, so Hammer may be my next ball if I decide to try something different.

Have to agree with Greg, it's the Monster Frenzy.  Inexpensive, forgiving, solid to excellent at the pins.

Traitor! It's not under-rated; it wasn't rated at all!!

I'd have to go with the Barrage or the Element.
I can't believe how hard the no-nothing core and cover on the Barrage makes it hit, nor how versatile the totally ignored Element is.

Now, now, I PREFER the Element, but it came out in 2002.  For 2002 it was the best ball of the year and the most underrated ball of the year (it remains both the best ball I have seen on the market and the most underrated, all things considered, by the way).  It is, in my opinion, the game's stealth ball -- flies in under the radar, wins and then flies out.  The Barrage has gotten very good reviews from everyone who tried it -- it just hasn't been tried enough.  It is the bargain in bowling right now.

The Frenzy, however, was essentially ignored and given tepid reviews, sort of "its real good, yawn".  Is it as good as the Element or Barrage for someone who is a player?  Nope.  But it is more forgiving than either and a better ball for a wider variety of bowlers.  And it is inexpensive.

Another vote for the Crunch by Track.  It was about time someone could compete with the V2 Solid.  The reason the Crunch is "under-rated", is that even after the Crunch was released, people still swore by the V2 Solid.  I shot 300 out of the box, which means little.  But, I have thrown both balls and the Crunch is every bit as good as the V2, maybe even better.  Both are versatile, predictable, can be used in any part of the lane, and the hit and carry is extremely good.  Just my opinion, but what makes the Crunch better, is that it is easier on the wallet where I am from ($30 cheaper).  I have had alot of people who have seen me throw my Crunch ask me if it was the V2, only to say no.  They were quite surprised since the reaction down the lane was very smooth to find out it was a Track ball.

If anyone out there is worried about the scores being too high, try duckpin!!

At first i'd say the Inferno but that ball isn't underrated one bit. One of the most underrated balls is the new Power Diesel, got to throw this in a demo day, very very good ball. I'd also have to say the Diesel Particle Pearl, does wonders for my dad.

Columbia Pulse = Crunch.

I disagree, Crunch = a lower rg Ti Hawk.

If one looks at the picture of the ceramaslam core from AMF.
AMF slam, MJ slam, Nighthawk SPT, Nighthawk Revenge, Firehawk, Hawk, etc.

This ball morphed into the Ti Hawk and Firehawk Super/c by the addition of a ti nugget in the center.

The Crunch looks exactly the same with a bigger nugget and a lower rg as the Ti Hawk.

I have to agree with those who voted for the Eraser Particle Pearl.  I bought it for myself as an early Christmas present, and, except for 6 and 10 pins, haven't used another ball since.  The third game I used it (in practice), I shot a 298.

I also say the Eraser Pearl Particle. Several people in my Thursday night league use it, but outside of that, I've seen 1 other person throw it. I've shot 3 700's with it so far this year and many other mid-high 600's. Now if I could only shoot spares.....
