I'm finding that my 715C can handle most patterns with an adjustment or two.

I have not tried it on a truly dry condition though.

i would have to say for mee it would be my Freeze.

during winter league where there were 4 guys using and invasion i was using my freeze (and almost the same line) then again on a different night and drier house i still used the freeze only changing hand and axis rotation positions..

My polished hyroad allows me to play on a wide variety of conditions..
a bit strong on dry but I can just move left and it has plenty of recovery..

--------------------
18 mph,350 rpm,PAP 5 1/2 x 3/8up, 15 deg axis tilt, varied rotational axis deg.. usually 45+
HighGame 300 x 4, High Series 808
Book Average 220,PBA Xperience 185
350 RPM, 17 MPH

depends on the bowler.

for instance a hyroad seems to be a great all around ball for some people but for me goes pretty much straight.

I would imagine the most versatile would be mid-priced popular bowling balls:

freeze
505a
715c
hyroad
etc.

I would choose a company that you match up to and choose their most "in-between" ball they have.

You will/should get many answers. It depends on how you throw it and how you drill it.

The most versatile balls will generally be benchmarks like the Nomad, Copperhead, Clutch, Gladiator, Burst, etc.

I find that my original Dimension is very versatile at the out of box finish.  Add some polish, and it can cover the dryer stuff as well.

What qualifies a ball as versatile ? It means you can use this piece of equipment and find a way to carry despite any change in ball surface, oil pattern, changes in axis rotation and/or tilt, angle of attack, ball speed, etc.

In this respect my Brunswick C-System 2.5 has been all I could ask for. I've used this ball dull, smoothsanded, and highly polished. I've thrown it on all the PBA patterns, typical house shots, the US open pattern, etc. I've used five different degrees of axis rotation. I've thrown this ball straight down the 1 board and as far left as the 25 board and every line in between. And the ball speed has been changed as necessary, anywhere from 14mph to just over 20mph.

For all these reasons I've already bought another 2.5 for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.

Lane Masters Buzz Attack - Mine is drilled 45 x 3 3/4" x 45 (pin beneath ring finger, CG strong). This ball works well polished on light conditions with the factory 1200-sheen covering mediums through medium heavy. This ball had an excellent look in doubles and singles at USBC Nationals and gets a good look on a wide range of sport and house shots.
