Title: Motiv Venom Panic
Post by: Brickguy221 on March 17, 2015, 11:19:14 PM
I posted this in another bowling forum and didn't really learn anything, so thought I would try here on BR....

Has anyone other than Motiv staff members thrown this new ball yet? I would like to know how it works for the "everyday Joe" type bowlers and not Motiv staff Bowelrs, bowling on THS.

State your stats so we know how you compare to staffers.

What are your bowling Stats?  This is the issue you can't compare to staffers but to us regular guys you give us info.  Ball speed, axis rotation, tilt. PAP, etal.  Give stats and folks can understand where you are coming from no stats. we can't show much compassion IMO.  Lane condition would give more info.

Brick, I had the chance to try one on the Mtiv test drive and I really liked the ball. It was tested on a fresh lane, THS. It goes clean through the heads, goes a little bit farther down the lane than my Shock (I took it to the test drive to compare) and it has a nice pop in the backend, I think it is just a little bit stronger than my Shock, but maybe it was just me. When I was missing my mark and going to far to the left and hitting the dry (I am a left handed) I had some difficulties getting the ball to the pocket, but still had some margin of error, but I would say that everytime I hit my mark on missed by one or two boards the ball looked impressive! Not a skid reaction (thankfully, because I don't like skid reaction, hockey stick, etc) but still goes down the lane and stores energy for the backend. I think the ball will be more useful for a second or a third game and not as a first ball, but still I was able to use it on the fresh. I really liked the ball, but ended getting a Forza instead. (I was needing more of a ball like the Forza than the Panic, but I will get that one eventually) by the way I am a left handed everyday Joe, 16.26 mph, 200 revs, etc...

I hope this helps!

Hi!

Bought my panic same day as it was released. I'm a medium to slow stroker. Pin over ringfinger and CG out a bit. I think this ball Is great for crankers. It is not a very strong ball. Tried it on many different patterns. Bought it too use it when the lanes are getting very dry. I don't like the reaction I get with it on dry. I get a very small pocket. I must have a perfect release. I would buy the shock or a new primal if I could to things over again. But who knows maybe It will grow on me. I didn't like the revolt at start but now I am loving it.

Primal rage is one of the best balls ever made.

I loved the Motiv demo day, but with my low axis tilt  and the pin above bridge, I would burn off the tilt and they would roll out on me.

So I didn't get a good look for me, but I do love their products when I buy and get one drilled up for my specs. Got the Forza and Apex on demo day and they are looking good.

Scotts, I don't believe my stats are necessary for the information I was wanting when I posted my topic. I wrote ...  I would like to know how it works for the "everyday Joe" type bowlers and not Motiv staff Bowelrs, bowling on THS. ... All I was asking for is how it works for others and not Motiv Staff members. More times than naught, Staff members of any company are not going to say anything bad about a ball whereas the "Everyday Joe" more times than naught will give their honest opinion about a ball. As you can see, three bowlers (L3nnON, Greven, & Luvswatch) have written their unbiased opinions of what I was asking for.

I punched up one of these last week.  This ball is far stronger than I had anticipated.  I drilled it with the pin over my middle finger and the cg just above my center of grip on the center line.  The ball clears the heads easily, but you can definitely see when it picks up its roll.  Once it turns, it makes a very strong move to the pocket with great continuation.

I have a pin down shock and wanted something a touch weaker for later in the set.. I agree with the earlier post that the panic was stronger than anticipated and gave me a much smaller pocket.. I just picked up a second shock pin up and i am much happier with that..

I've had mine for two of weeks.  I'm super impressed, but it is stronger than I anticipated.  Clears the heads easily, makes a hard move, and REALLY continues through the deck.  It lets me play on the same line as my Schizo when the track is burned up, but my carry percentage seems higher with the Panic.  I'm never going to overpower a lane, so I don't tend to struggle with polished equipment being too jumpy.  Your results may vary, but given the way this fits in my lineup I'll probably ditch the Schizo for a Forza or something that'll read earlier/smoother.  That'll give me better "gaps."

I think "everyday Joe" posts here under a different ID...   ;) ;D
