lefty/righty drill ?
« on: September 07, 2012, 09:39:15 AM »

sorry for long post!

I am a righty but threw my friends (a lefty) new marauder a few weeks ago and did very well w/it a few 240's chalked it up to it was after league and lanes were a bit burnt.  then last week I subber on his team so i threw his terror in practice a few times and struck, then went to my gear and struggled for 2 games then grabbed his marauder again and shot 220.  his span is shorter than mine & the inserts were flipped & thumb pitch reverse for me.  can't figure out why his equip works so well for me, it wasn't like i was carring weak hits they were all perfect shots, it was like the ball never stopped.  my drill thinks it is the shorter span but i think it is more the thumb pich and how it feels like it is sitting in my hand more (almost like throwing no thumb, but with it in) i get less revs when i take my thumb out...

any help would be great, cause next step is to buy 1 and drill like his....

Compare those pin to PAP's with what your PAP to the pin on your lefty friend's ball is and you may have the answer.  --  JohnP

shorter spans will make you turn the ball a bit sooner plus with added reverse pitch, you thumb is coming out quicker and the weight is shifting faster to your fingers which could give you a bit more hand into the shot.

I would check out your grip to insure it is not too long and like already mentioned, checkout the layout based on your specs.
