Mucous Cyst on top of finger
« on: January 21, 2011, 11:00:31 PM »
I had a mucous cyst on the top of middle finger cause by osteophyte (bone spur) on the joint itself. Anyone here had one of these? What was the result as related to your bowling after surgical repair?

Just asking--are you sure of the diagnosis?  It appears more like an infection.  I had a similar infection several

years ago and it didn't heal for a long time.  It turned out that I had type2 diabetes and that was the reason

that it wouldn't heal.  Maybe to be sure, if you haven't had it diagnosed by a physician, you could check your

blood sugar level.

Not an infection. Yes I am type II but well controlled with oral meds. Sugar level is consistent 90-104 3 hrs after breakfast and A1C tested last week is 6.1.
Main reason for the post was to see if others have had this issue and what was the long-term outcome.
I did go to the lanes yesterday after the post and shot a 642 on the first practice session since the surgery 3 weeks ago. I had gone to my local shop and had new larger finger inserts installed Friday as my Dr told me to wear tape on the finger for several more weeks, until the swelling is gone. No pain on the first time out.
