Title: Muscle tightness
Post by: Zanatos1914 on April 22, 2013, 06:43:14 PM
This weekend I noticed my forearm is really getting tight after bowling serveral games and I know aleive does help but I think I need something else to help with the muscle tightness..

Do we have any equipment or devices that can assist with muscle tightness in your forearm...

Thanks in advance

Well, I can offer some good stretching techniques. Stretch your arm forward, point your fingers up, take your other hand and pull back on your fingers. This will stretch your forearm and relieves tension.

The link Coach Bonesaw provided for stretching is good. Focus on that as much as possible.

If you want to try a device, I've found BandIT forearm band to help with tightness:

But if the tightness starts to extend up the back of your hand in the form of tendon/ligament inflammation, or spread down to your elbow causing tendonitis, it's time to see doctor to get a referral for soft tissue therapy. You don't want a chronic condition that will put you out of commission for months.

Stretching is one part of the equation, but also try to develop and strengthen the forearm muscles...this helps if you're using a lot of forearm during your swing. The more strength you have, the less you'll use and the less your forearm will be stressed. This also helps to avoid injury.

First I would invest in some KT tape pro. I have been using kt tape for atleast 2.5 years now and never have pain when i use it while i bowl and also after i am done bowling..

Next thing i would suggest is to get your fit rechecked. I know it may "feel" great and there are no problems but it sounds like your having to hold on to or squeeze rather than the ball holding onto you.
