well here is the problem i been playing a deep line the last couple of years been playing off, during spare time i have been trying to play up and in but ball comes off the the break point way to soon so during the set i play deep.here is how last night went here is a litte about how i bowl
very rev dom avg speed.left handed.

game 1 started where i always do 15-5 left lane 15-5 right lane
left lane held good till 6th frame i moved to 20-5 to finish
right lane held good till 5th frame i was playing 20-10 to finish

game 2 was a wash on the left i had to move to 25-5 to just keep hiting light could not kick the 7 out at all on the left lane.
the right was not as bad but was hitting high was at 25-5 at the end

game 3 left i was at 35-5 and either hitting high  or hitting lite. split city.
the right i had to move to 30-5 just to get to the pocket. a lot of soild 7s
all said worst night ever.

here is the what i been told take my hand out of it.

all my balls are drilled weak and drilled we even drilled one up righty. last year to see if it would help. only thig it dose it gets me down the lane more.

i want to get better at an down and in line. as if i need to go deep i can .
but where should i start on changing form a deep player to a down and in player.

I am basically going through the same learning process. I am extremely rev dominant and low speed, due to health reasons. Maintaining a weak hand position is critical to what we want to do. This means less rotation of axis(side roll). Try keeping your hand flat(no cup of wrist) and aim your pinky finger at the pocket. This will help you to reduce your rotation of axis, which is forcing you to play deep. Also, no turning of the wrist and /or forearm! Surface can play a factor also. Don''t shine everything up, keep some surface on a ball or two. Sometimes a little surface bleeds off some of the hook early and lets you move slightly right(or left in your case). Also, don''t drill everything with long pin to pap. Sometimes a stronger drilling with a little surface(1000,2000,4000 AB or Storm Step 1 or Step 2 Compounds) will bleed off a little hook and let you play more down and in.Good luck! It is hard to change years of muscle memory!

Have you tried not throwing out to 5?  Most THS have more oil in the middle.

How far spread is your index(pointing)finger?  You'd be surprised the difference you get when doing that.  In fact, fom now on, this is the only hand adjustment I make, other than completely flattening my hand when shooting the 10.

the house i bowl at their house shot is 1-1 out to 42 feet nothing but oil.
they changed it this year trying to make it harder this house had  20 300 games in the frist 15 weeks last year. with the house changing hands to new owners and here comes a new shot.

index finger is as close to my middle as i can get it any more out more hand i put in to it.

my father inlaw who is in town from fl.
took me to the lanes this morning  "he used to coach" and he had me hold the ball as i would be at the line and just roll it with out any finger lift. and he also had me slow my speed by moving 2 steps back. as when i was doing it from where i normaly start it was crossing over. and with these little changes i can at least play down and in with out crossing over as much. he tells me to keep working on this and if i need  more speed or less speed move up or back a step.

Have you tried clearing more of the front part of the lane by lofting?
