Wilbon accepts challenge
« on: March 03, 2009, 03:07:47 AM »
Well, we wanted TV ratings now we got them. The PBA should really exploit this and bring some awareness  to the sport.

Does Wilbon get to pick the pattern or what?  Personally, Wilbon should either get some pins or Wes should use plastic, not both.

And out of curiosity, how is anyone supposed to score on any PBA pattern that's not Cheetah when they're using plastic?

If you give to any man
good coaching,
60 pins per game,
a high performance resign reactive ball,
the choice of a oil pattern,
how i heavens name you will "blow him away"?

The game ends at 300 and Wes will throw plastic. He can go 230-250 on a medium pattern? Anybody could throw 160 with a medium spare game. Add to this 60 pin he will go like 210 - 220 and at the end this turns to a bad thing.

I would be carefully by giving to many advantages. They should bowl on a PBA pattern, giving him 0 Pins. Malott was a Pro before Wilbon couldn't control he's mouth so he should stop crying around.

it's almost always the indian and not the arrow
yes and i like this one also
don't go for a strike, go for a sure spare, we need 5 pins to win

Bottom line bowling is getting some great publicity.   It can only help the game.  Plastic, reactive resin, the general public has no idea what it is.

I was surprised he said how many pins would you give him, not how many points.   That's good for the game.

As far as the game itself.  Wilbon probably throws the ball straight.  This being said how much would a pattern make a difference?  He will throw the ball straight.    A reactive resin ball will only increase his luck on his carry when he hit the head pin.

Regardless of if they ever bowl eachother, Wes Melott HAS to win.  If Wilbon beats him, it will push bowling back.   giving him any pins is dangerous for the sport.   so playing on a house shot so wilbon can hook the ball and so Wes can score higher, would help the game.

High game 300, 298(no middle finger) 290, 290(no middle finger)
High series 804
High triplicate 774
High average 221
best game. when I was 6 I bowled a 158

I have a 16# morich awesome finish I want to trade.  1 season on it.    I am looking for 15# stuff

The publicity is great for the PBA and for bowling in general.

However, some of you people saying that Wilbon should not have opened his mouth are insane.  Should a guy who is paid to have an opinion not have one?  He calls out basketball players and you don't see them on the court calling out Wilbon after a victory.  This was a big deal to Wes though, as PBA members rarely get mentioned at the national level.

Accepting 57 pins in handicap is not exactly accepting the challenge.

Remember guys... Malott only averages 220.

If that were the case I'm sure plenty of BR members would be suiting up and taking him on.

I think it is awesome!

I believe it should be on the pattern the tournament in Denver was bowled on that our own JC won on!

I think Wes can be beat with the pins....if it is on that shot in Denver I thought the challenge was straight up with Wilbon with a performance ball and Wes with a plastic.

With the pins I'd be just like Wilbon....why not give it a whirl!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS too bad the PBA is not putting up some money for the two of them to bowl for!

The ONLY person that has anything to loose is Wes. It would be completely stupid for Wes to do this. IF he happened to loose there goes more bowling integrity at the expense of our BEST bowler. No matter what the pattern, throwing at the head pin and making spares with a few breaks could easily shoot a 190 when he admits to averaging 175 already. And 240-250 with plastic is tough...especially on a game match. TOO MUCH TO RISK.

If Wilbon threw straight I say more than 30 pins is too much.  Like pin chaser said, it would just take a few breaks by chucking the ball at the head pin and spares.  If he hooks it giving 40-50 pins wouldn't be as big of a deal because he could have a hard enough time just finding the hole.

Doesn't anyone else see this as stupid and demeaning?  Puts bowling in the
category as professional wrestling.
