My ball drilling
« on: April 20, 2011, 10:31:01 AM »
I have a nano and it's drilled just like this one.  What exactly is a drilling like this supposed to do?  I might sound dumb here with this question but this is my first season bowling.

There is no way of knowing without knowing your axis point, tilt, ball speed, and revrate.  For me this drilling would do one thing...for somoene else it would not be the same.  It's also kind of irrelevant as it's already drilled....it doesn't matter what the drilling is "supposed" to do...what is it actually doing?

Typically should have some length and react strong/fast off friction. (very common drilling)

Be good, or be good at it.

I think Russell and Kidlost 2000 are correct.  Depending on your PAP, this ball will have different charateristics.  So throwing the ball and watching its reaction will help the most.  But I agree with Kidlost 2000 that this ball is drilled to go longer with a sharper back end for a bowler that has a higher track.  The pin above the ring finger line usually means more length better reaction off the break point.  The pin below the ring finger line means the ball will read the midlane earlier and be slower off the spot.  Really can't see where the MB is, but that also makes a difference.  For me this drilling would put the pin too close to my PAP for a sharp backend.  Since I track medium, I get a stronger back end with the pin over my ring finger due to my PAP.

All this is on Storm's website with regards to their ball drilling.
