Good move Dynoboy. what you've found out is that the surface adjustment is the number one change you can make to combat a tough condition!
P.S. As an addendum to this tried and true formula, I just recently(last nite) used a dull, particle piece, a Silver Streak Particle to tame down flying backends which were giving everyone else on our pair,....fits! The magnificent core/ cover combo allowed the ball to transition thru the skid/hook/roll phase normally and I was able to consistently kick the corners out. For example....2 wks ago we bowled this same team and the lady on the team shot 730 against us with a Mission. the backends were regular. This week that same lady with the same ball was only able to muster 565, because the backends were flying! 2 wks ago I shot 697, this week only 645. Control of those backends make a big difference.
Duct tape is like 'The Force'. It has a light side and a dark side, but it still holds the universe together.
