My Big Toe
« on: September 25, 2013, 05:27:56 PM »
Seriously my big toe :).  After taking a few months off, I feel like I have turf toe in my right toe.  I am guessing this is because of my push off with my right foot.  Anyone ever have this problem?  What did you do to remedy it?

Sounds like a tendonitis issue.  Ice and anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as rest will usually clear it up.  Don't discount the "ice" part of the remedy.  Done 3 to 4 times a day, it's far more valuable than pumping large doses of ibuprofen through your system, and there are no side-effects.  Good luck.

For awhile this summer I was getting pain in my right big toe (I am RH).  In my case, I figured out that it was because I was keeping the front part of my right foot down on the approach as I slid the right foot over to the left behind my body and causing the big toe to bend too much backwards.  I have been doing that forever, but with age, I guess my foot is not as flexible as it once was.  Could this be part of your problem?

MI 2 AZ it very well could be.  I have changed the way I slide this year and I do keep my right leg far more extended on the slide with my toe pointing down.  Though my bowling has become a lot better ( more stable)  it could very well be the problem

I have arthritis in the big toe of my left (sliding) foot. Its called Hallux Limitus. It hurts when you push off the toe when walking. I tape the toe before I bowl and my slide is not adversely affected by it.
