I am a high school bowling coach and we will be bowling on this pattern in post season tourneys(regionals thru state finals). Any ideas what to expect from this pattern? Any pointers would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is the same pattern that the thead "practicing for states" was about.  I was one of the two guys the thread was about.

We did some fishing for about an hour I used 7 different balls all with different looks to see what I was going to find.  After the four games of warm up we formulated some hypothesis and went to work.

From what most of are used to (THS) the pattern really flattens out at the end with a generous amount of oil in the heads.  With that said I found my best look with ball speeds around 16 mph playing 17-18 at the arrows getting out no further than 10.  I was also throwing a 900 Global Bounty with OOB at 1000.  Keep in mind that even with the strength of the ball being a pinch fast caused the ball skid a little too long, remember there is a ton of head oil.  With my slower ball speed missing inside was not an option no matter what part of the lane I was on.  The amount of oil at the end of the pattern just caused things to go left.

Durring the last part of warm ups I was using and AMF Urethane Hype stading on 5L playing 7 at the arrows to the 3 or 4 board with just as much success as I had with my last three games.

Between the two of us we put 16 games into that pattern.  What we saw when we started was pretty much what we saw when we got done.  I feel that the end of the pattern won't warrent much change because there isn't much oil to move.  However with the amount of oil in the heads once this pattern gets opened up I don't think that traditional moves with feet and marks will work.  If you have a player(s) playing the same spot and the heads seem to be hooking more I think I would try something to create a little more skid in the front where you dry area is.  Keep in mind too you run a risk of missing and hitting a lot of oil you haven't already been playing.  That might make the ball change look like not such a good idea.
