you just gotta suck it up and make good shots and not let what they are doing get to you too much.  I shot 800 this year and we lost all 3 games, next week i shoot 629 and we take all 3...so how do ya figure it out? You just gotta keep plugging away and make sure to have fun, you guys arent going to have any luck if your pressuring every shot and not having fun.  Those are my words of wisdom

The more you notice it and dwell on it...the more it will happen.

Other teams don't get more good breaks...you're just noticing them.  When you start having fun and not caring about what they are doing you'll start winning again.

My team is getting beat shooting 3400 scratch and in a separate week throwing 1193 scratch

It's tough to get your butt handed to you when you almost shoot 1200 and a lesser team beats you.

Due to the fact that house walled up oil patterns tend to hide the difference in ball reactions, often we use the wrong ball because the ball reaction seems close enough. So he could be off by just a little bit.

One other factor that often rears its ugly head is a bit of laziness. We all get so used to the "stand left, throw right" and bounce it off the wall that we lose sight of the some basics in timing and release coordination. (Guilty!) He might be off just enough to be leaving 4 pins and 10 pins (6 and 7s for lefties) when he might be not precise enough to be hitting within his target area properly and with some smaller range of error for his release and ball speed.

Also are his balls being maintained?
Are dull/matte balls being kept dull?
Are polished balls being kept polished?
He doesn't have to be obsessive about this, but some degree of maintenance has to be done.

Yes, because we all know that ball maintenance is much more important than good timing, good release, and playing the lanes correctly.  Sheesh.

He wanted some suggestions. I gave him some, in no order of importance. If you can read and not just jump to unwarranted conclusions, you'll also see I mentioned timing, as well as other personal factors (release, ball speed).
