First of all, let me put out some disclaimers. I know that lots of you on this board average over 220 so bowling a low 600 series would represent a bad night for you. Also, my 600 series was done during practice not during league play so I know it doesn't count. That being said...
It feels so great to finally have three good games together where I only made a few bad shots and felt in the zone for a large majority of the time.
Here is what I did last night:
Game 1
9/ X 9- 9/ X X X X 8/ 6/8 = 210
Game 2
8/ X 9- X X 9/ 7/ X -9 X8- = 180
Game 3
X X 9/ 8/ 9- X X X 9/ XX9 = 223
Going into the 10th frame of game three, I knew I was really close and only needed a mark. I was half expecting to throw the ball in the ditch but I threw 3 perfect shots, (as perfect as I can throw the ball currently).
Total series score was 613 which is a good 50 pins higher then my previous best set so I am feeling great. In the past couple of months I have purchased a new ball, Inferno, and received help in improving my release which has been paying off. I have been averaging 170-180 in leagues lately which is a huge improvement over my 150 book average.
I have also learned a lot from this website and I know that as I continue to improve my game I will learn more from this site.
I guess I just needed to share my good shooting last night with all of you and maybe give encouragement to some people who browse this site who have lower averages who are afraid to post anything since the majority of the posters have really high averages. A few minor changes to your game can easily add 20-30 pins to your average, assuming your average is on the low side to begin with. Once your average starts to increase, the game of bowling really becomes more entertaining since you are able to keep up with most of the bowlers in league.
I find that I have an insatiable desire to keep improving and eventually bowl my first 600 series in league and maybe someday a 700 series
Anyway, thanks for reading this long post.

Great Job!!!!!!!
Many on here are BS anyway they average 200 on what????? They get easier as they come to you, my high is still only 701 but have been 680 plus at least 10 times. You will start not thinking about the total series and just putting it all together and thats when it all gets easy. I would recommend going to a clinic or finding a silver level coach in your area it is much better money spent than any new ball. I have been working with Bill Hall recently and improving greatly it is expensive but worth the time and effort if you love the game as much as i do. Good Luck and feel free to ask me anything if you need any advice with bowling -barry

Very true.
Congratulations on your series. I am sure that you will soon be reporting a 600 in league. I noticed that you were keeping the ball 'in play', very few first ball counts less than 9. That makes making spares much easier and will result in higher scores. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations on the 600! I remember mine too. I threw 600 even and then came back the next week and shot 662. Maybe you'll do the same thing or better. Best of luck!!

Congrats on the first of many milestones.

Great bowling! We all remember our first 200 games, 600 series... The numbers get higher, but the feeling is the same.

Props, bro! Good bowling!
Looking forward to you coming on here and telling us when you sanction one.
This is what makes bowling fun.

If horse racing is the sport of kings, then surely bowling is a very good sport as well.

Congratulations! The first is always the hardest. I'm still trying for a sanctioned 700, but can't put three really good games together.

Thanks for all the great remarks about my first 600 series, even if it was thrown in practice. And a few of you commented that I might just have a sanctioned 600 series to report soon and I do!
Last night in my league I got my first sanctioned 600 series only 2 days after my first 600 of any kind.
Game 1
9/ 9- X 9/ X 8/ 9/ 71 8? 5/X = 167
Game 2
9/ 71 X 9- X X X X X XX5 = 228 The 2nd frame was a split.
Game 3
8- X X X 9- 6/ X 8/ X XXX = 215
In some ways, I did not feel like I was bowling as well as I did in my practice 600 despite having about the same total, 610 instead of 613. I left 6 opens last night which is still great for me but Monday I left only 3 opens. The seven strikes in a row during game 2 was amazing. I had never thrown more than 5 in a row. By the last ball of the second game, my knees were shaking and I threw my worst shot of the night. I know the experience of going for 8 in a row will help me next time I am in that situation. I can't even imagine how my nerves would be if I started the game with the front 9 or more...
With my still low average of 151, my total series with handicap was 727 which is the high handicap series for my league so far. Obviously my average has been increasing lately so I am not going to get the benefit of such a high handicap for long which should bother me, but it doesn't.
I should mention that the amount of cheering that I received from my teammates and the other team during my 7 in a row was amazing. Our anchor bowler who averages between 180-200 was so enthusiastic you would have guessed it was him on such a long streak and not me. Such great people on my team
Anyway, I am sure that you know that I am very proud right now but not satisfied. I left 6 opens so I know that I have a lot of room for improvement. What will really please me is when I can report that I shot a clean series with no opens, to this date I am still looking for my first clean game. I am starting to practice a game a week shooting at nothing but 10 pins and 7 pins so hopefully that will help out as 90% of my missed spares are corner pins.
Thanks for reading all of this.
P.S. After my seven in a row during the 2nd game, our anchor went and threw a 267 game in which he got 10 strikes....but his longest string was only 5

Wow! You didn't waste any time going from practice 6 to sanctioned 6. That's good bowling.
Now move on up the ladder...650, 700, 750, 800. Always have a goal in mind.
Now what you need to do is shoot a 300 in practice. The way you work, you'll have a sanctioned 3 in a matter of days.
Again, good bowling.

Alto, Good bowling. Hope you get the clean game soon. Nice to see hard work (practise) rewarded. I think you are the type of bowler I would want on my team.
