My First 700
« on: September 30, 2008, 02:47:42 PM »
I know it's not much compared to some of the slingers on this board, but it was big for me!  I've been bowling really well so far this season (averaging 201 going into tonight), and tonight was my best night yet.

259-212-243 - 714

My high series before tonight was 675.  The first game was also my high game for the year.  The great thing is I felt like I really deserved it.  I had a couple lucky strikes, of course, where I got away with a pull or with a light hit, but for the most part I was burying the ball.  My only open was a missed 10 pin in the second game.  It was all with the Cell, which I have been using since last year, and I didn't move a single board all night, though I did have to play the two lanes slightly different, as one was hooking more than the other.

I owe a lot of it to learning to play further inside over the Summer.  I've always been an "up the second arrow or nothing" kind of guy.  Over the summer the lanes were so toast I HAD to learn to play differently.  Now it really feels like it's paying off!

Congratulations. I remember my first (and so far only) 700+ series as if playing in trance. It was a great yet unspectaucal moment. I came close to the 700 barrier again very often, but never broke it again so far.

Great job, and keep it up!

@Rick

Haha, yeah.  Maybe.  It sure is fun trying to figure out what board the dots are SUPPOSED to be on.  "Is that the 17th or 18th board?"

Good bowling I had my first sanctioned 700 earlier this season also with a Roto Grip Ball (Grand Illusion).

Congrats on the 700.  I actually kept the ball I threw my first 700 with - an AMF Ninja Fury.  Sits on my shelf at home.

I think shooting 700 is like scoring points in football.  The first one is hard to get, after that they come much easier.

Here's to many more 700's for you.
