Best advice you ever gave or got!
« on: August 05, 2004, 02:39:37 AM »
Best advice I ever gave was to this little kid bowling bantams. She was about 7. She put the ball directly above her head when she go up to bowl. Red lights went off on me, little kids hit in head with bowling ball.

People told me for years to go from 3 to 4 step bowling.
I over heard some snobby hammer guys knocking me, comment was "there's a perfect example what not to do!"

Nicely told I tried once, but over hearing them guys, I stuck with it last summer and can now bowl better than ever, old age and all. (smile)

Nasty comments overheard may hurt, but sometimes they're right.

Best advice as a teen, was an older gent who explained throwing at 10 or 11 o'clock will give me a curve. Back when lanes were wood and balls we still rubber.

This was told to me the first time I bowled...

Bowling is all offense and no defense....

No matter what you do, you can't stop your opponent...
Meaning, worry about your game and not what everyone else is doing...

I really used to be thick headed when it come to hearing advice when I started, so one of my dad's friends gave me some real good advice, "If you would just pull that stick out of your bum you might bowl better."

My turn,my turn!

As for giving good advice, umm,I tell, ask or let a person know
when they have a HORRIBLE game.Whether it be a practice or league
game.I say "take some deep breaths, take a frame at a time" and
"BEAT THAT LAST SCORE BY 1 pin".Thats all, only "1 pin".

This is a fun little challenge, thats not too hard!

I also do this for myself too, this works wonders,I've told this
to a gazillion peeps(aka hundreds of times, true smack!).

As for the OTHER way round(aka advice I took from others?)

Good Advice given ta me was, uhh,I've been told/asked by
several bowlers to slow down my ball speed, especially
on the oilier Sporet Shots!Sice then it has helped.

The bad-corny advice ,but true--You should've stayed home!!
I get that every week!!!

Thats all for now,the rest of you be cool
and keep giving good ADVICE OK!!!

You know those spares that are real hard to pick up? well, don't leave those...leave the easier ones.

When not bowling well or thinking to much go to the 3 F's
Forget finesse and fling the F'er
