Sling Blade
savage flip
savage sanded
predator pursuit( polished)
Turbo Diesel
those may be too strong if she is using a plastic ball and scoring.
maybe:
red pearl hammer
blue slate gargoyle
Buzzsaw XXl or XXXL(plastic)

I'd go with the XXXL. It'll have a coverstock she is used to, with a more aggressive core. If she's only going to throw one ball, that's what I'd pick.
Consider yourself lucky... how would you feel if your g/f had two balls? LOL.

If she would benefit from breaking the ball more, consider the Ebonite Tornado series balls. If not, the XXXL. -- JohnP

The Lane 1 XXXL would likely be the perfect ball for her. It is expensive as far as plastic/poylester balls go, but it also has a fairly agressive core, aimed at going long and breaking late.
If your girlfriend (if my girlfriend bowled 176, she would be my wife, btw) has the typical dainty chick realase( she kinda drops it and waves her hands, hoping the bowl will magically hook that way) then the XXXL would be a complete waste of money, because her speed would be so low it would likely hook into the gutter.
If she can throw some revs off her hand, the XXXL will skid/slide into the clean and make a late break, probably inches from the pins, giving her a better hit. However, I don't think Lane 1 offers balls less then 14 pounds, though I could be wrong, that may be a problem.

Brunswick Groove Reactive.
Fairly "mild" reactive - great introduction into the world of bowling technology. Her yellow dot (which has to be over 20 years old) will quickly become her spare ball.
Bet her average hits 190 by the end of the season.

Big Hit Pearl/Solid
Tornado
Scout Reactive
XXL or XXXL
Top 3 should be under $100 out the door, the XXL/XXXL probably a bit more.

This post was brought to you by just another lefty hack who considers covering corners bonus pins added to the series....

For Her, XXL all the way!!!!!! That's advice that you can Clump all the way to the bank. Speaking of bank, I just love my Golden Nugget!!

I second the Thing. Not a better ball on the market IMO.

If you can verify to your own satisfaction, that this ball is truly a plastic ball, then I tend to agree with LeftE that one of the valid choices for her is a Lane #1 XXXL, the plastic ball. 2 other valid choices, given that her plastic ball must be so beaten up that it is more like a pearl urethane, the other two valid choices are the Lane#1 XXL and the Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle.

If she is already doing good with plastic, I wouldn't get her another plastic ball, even if it has a core. Look at the urethane Lane #1 XXL or Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle. If you want a little stronger, consider the resin Roto Grip Sonic X, Storm Big Hit, Brunswick Power Groove, Dynothane Barrage...

My wife was of the same mindset. When we got back into the game she continued to use her old black diamond and averaged in the mid 170`s. she`s a full roller and one heck of a spare shooter. She refused to even consider a second ball. I went ahead and bought her a lane #1 emerald anyway, now her average is 185 and she uses the black diamond for her spares. Now if I can just get her to adjust to changing lane conditions I would consider that one of the highlights of our 35 year marrage.
