For YEARS (decades, even) they've always said "Good Luck and Good Bowling".
Tonight (and could have been for the last 2 years - I haven't been paying attention) it was "Good Luck and High Scoring". I guess no one cares about the "good bowling" part any more.

Don't go that far. I'm only 24, but I've learned from watching other bowlers and from reading these forums what good bowling truly means. I've learned to pride myself on consistency and accuracy, largely because of the discussions on this site. As long as some of the younger people are willing to learn, we can continue to push for conditions that call for true shot making.

Of coarse, i look at it this way. U can bowl REALLY well, & score horribly, & u cna bowl like crap & score really well. The only time its actually rewarding is when u bowl well & score well at the same time.
So good bowling, high scoring, either way, i want both. But it would get a bit redundant to hear "Good luck, good bowling, & high scoring"

I'm not trying to single him out, but up until recently, I'm not sure he would have recognized the difference himself.If anyone feels like digging through the search feature, Clutch had a few good posts about this several years ago. He proposed changing the name from Bowling to Scoring.

Is it big businesses fault because they don't care about league bowlers? Is it too easy conditions that allow house hacks to set records? Is it the ball manufacturer's fault for creating a ball of the month club? The bottom line is that is that the finger needs to be pointed one way and one way only. WE THE BOWLERS.
The majority of league bowlers nowadays don't give a rat's fart about the game. All they care about is high scores. All they care about is keeping their average down to be able to win more in the brackets. I care about the game and consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable about the game. But I am in the minority and have been since I started back bowling in 2001. But I guarantee this movement didn't happen overnight.
Their have always been bowlers who cried and whined because they didn't bowl well, blaming everything but themselves. Maybe the industry just got tired of listening to it. Who knows and who cares. I commend Rev-O for the change of heart, but 6 months ago, the comments he makes now would be fighting words to him at the time. Welcome to the real world Steve, glad you could make it.
I address my statement on centers not caring about league bowlers. I see on a daily basis, league bowlers misusing the center. From dropping the ball on the tile and breaking it. From kicking chairs and tables so hard they have to be replaced. Kicking the scorer's so hard, they are actually turned over. Do you know how much those cost? Then we, as league bowlers wonder why the center doesn't care about us anymore. This is the majority acting like this, not the minority. Guess what age limit does the most damage in the center.......The over 40 grey haired bowler whose is suppossed the be the poster child of integrity. " Good luck and High scores ", that is absolutely right. Because if you tried to fill the house with good bowlers, it would be empty.
Sorry for the rant, I know this wasn't the intention of the post.
