One of Terre Hautes largest bowling center http://www.terrehautebowlingcenter.com/Home.html
was destroyed by a recent flood.

we have had a bowling center thats been here in Terre Haute,Indiana for a long time suffer serious flood damage, they use to host the woman pros tourneys every year here for several straight years til they stopped the womens tour, the event was the Clabber Girl open and I feel sooo sorry for Rick Braden and own Jerry Modesitt, they arent even sure they can reopen and there are sooo many memories in that place, maybe someone knows a person whos selling a old bowling center that can help restore the Terre Haute Bowling Center,I thought about contacting Mike Aulby because I heard he was in with Royal Pin Leisure Centers,if anyone could help them.

heres an article on it http://www.wthitv.com/Global/story.asp?s=8527443

if anyone can tell me a way to help them or find someone willing to donate or sell old lanes there sure would be appreciated.

sincerely,

Paco Hoopingarner

According to Mike Winemiller, they are going to reopen. They are most likely going to use Guardian to repair the lanes, and the approaches are all torn up. Some of the approaches were teepee'd, standing up.

They have already stripped up and repaired the foul lines, and were going to replace the carpet for glow bowling anyway, and they have cut up the drywall a couple feet. As Mike said, why would they be bothering with the repairs if they were not going to reopen?

A big thanks should go to Phil Cooper, of Imperial lanes, he and his wife brought a truckload of fans, and supplies to the Bowling Center, and several other Indiana centers have donated some things also. Not sure of the names, but a center in Anderson, and one from Merrillville also have brought some things down. Phil also took on the PBAX league, moved to thursday nights, and for that he gets a big thanks too.

Rick was president of the BPAA for a couple of years, so hopefully those connections will also bring in some help.

Mike said flat out they would definitely reopen for fall/winter leagues.

So here's to hoping they do, I miss the Bowling Center already.

So, Paco, what leagues did you bowl in there? I only have one under my belt there, thursday mixed, but (if) when they reopen I'm going to do the wednesday men's league, and maybe thursday mixed. And if they have another sport/PBA league, I'm on it, too. I love the bowling center...Don't get me wrong, Vigo & Imperial are nice, but something keeps me going to THBC like no other. I love that place. (It could be that it's only 5 blocks away from my house..)

Did you get hit by the flood? My house got hammered, and many of my neighbors are essentially homeless now, but at least we are all alive.

Cheers.

I havent bowled on league at the center for a year or so,but I agree, when you walkinto the bowling center, its different than the other centers here in Terre Haute,it just has the cozy feel of a true bowling center,I heard that phil cooper helped and he is one of the nicest guys I have ever met,I enjoy bowling all the shoot outs the bowling center has put on and Rick Braden is one heck of a guy to boot.

my fingers are crossed and I pray they will reopen,if they dont,it will be a shame....
