Question for those who used a plastic spare ball for corner pins...do you bowl your normal hook release to kill the corner pin or do you throw a straight shot ?

I was once told that to hit the 10 pin, it was better to release the ball with the thumb pointed down. Basically it KILLS the ball. I have not tried this, but the guy who showed me was dead accurate when he did it.

I think there is no right or wrong way to throw a spare ball, more on the bowlers feel... I am using a old reactive ball for me spares, so is flat and straight. I will be getting a plastic for spares, so was wondering if this release still works....and after reading the replies from all, I have no doubt that it will but might have to change my line a bit.
