MSRP - Why have it if noone will buy it for that price.
« on: February 26, 2009, 02:59:37 AM »
It's been this way for years but the MSRP of Bowling Balls is soooo high....its almost a joke.

MSRP for New Balls right now is around $280.00. Is anyone able to sell a ball at that price?

I have seen 289.95 plus grips and thumb slug paid for a Morich ball at South Point here in Vegas. There are some that are dang dumb out there still, of course they offer a whole 15 percent league bower discount also hahaha

I don't know.  It's damn ridiculous and I'd never pay that much for any ball.  In fact, the only ball I can even remember paying more than 150$ including drilling for was the Phoenix.

So bowling balls shouldn't go up in price, while everything else does? With inflation and what not, a high performance bowling ball should be in the $280-300 range. Just because you do not want to pay it, does not mean it's correct. Everything has gone up in price, why shouldn't bowling balls. Bowlers are generally spoiled and not willing to pay for a quality product. The internet pricing is the worst thing that has ever happened to bowling.

Well I can say there has been some products out there that WERE STATED AS QUALITY but turned out to be a pieces of crap!! I am sure a list could be made.

A new bowling ball is not on many people's necessity list right now (Especially one at $280.00).
Maybe for some on this site!

How many drivers are worth $500? People stand in line to buy them and how many of them can use them.
Bowling balls are along the same line. It's never the bowler...or is it the Indian and the arrow?

You guys have to remember that on the grand scale of things, the 40-50 regular posters on here are spread out across the country/world.  You are still in the huge minority of all bowling ball buyers.

In some markets, due to supply and demand and the talents of the pro shop, prices approaching suggested retail do happen.
