My ring came yesterday
« on: June 10, 2010, 05:26:46 AM »
My 300 ring showed up yesterday. Now each of my kids can have one when I'm pushing up daisies. I'm still gonna try to rack up a few more though! We'll see what next season brings. I think I may get another with my Reign of Fire. I never thought I would shoot 2 and now I'm thinking I wonder if I can make it 3 or more???

I guess the next thing I need to do is shoot the 800 series I'm missing. I've been close a few times but it still seems a ways off.

Thanks!

I'm not the type to wear a ring but I thought it would be something that my kids could keep and remember me by.

Thats a great idea!! I have 7 (1-298, 1-299, 3-300 and 2-800) and never wear any of them but maybe my daughter would like one when she gets older..

The rings just don''''t mean much to most people anymore with how easy alot of people thenk the scoring conditions have become..

ebay man, you can get 50 bucks for each one.  I guess some people who lost theirs or what not buy them and knock off the engravings inside.

Dont need the money bad enough to sell them plus 3 of them are the 10K Gold upgrade rings. Those sell for $400 or more when they are on there. They will just stay in the cases until someone gets them when I am off to that 1000 lane bowling center in the sky!! LOL..

Congrants on the 300 and best of luck on the 800.  I think its harder to bowl than the 300.  I had two 300 games going into this year and zero 800 series.  I figured I would never get the 800 and lo and behold not only did I get an 800 this past season, I got two of them so I have 2 of each now.  I also would like to get at least one more of each before I retire from the sport.

Don't mean much to OTHER people.  I've yet to meet with somebody that wasn't proud of their 300 game......except on here of course.....where everybody has 20-30 "sanctioned" 300 games and throws a 300 during every practice session.

Must be some really killer leagues out there since everybody seems to always bowl 750 or better

I'm not nearly as dedicated of a bowler as I was in the past. With a family it's really gone down on the priority list. Not to say I don't still REALLY enjoy it, I just don't bowl multiple leagues a week like a lot of the guys I know.

For bowling one league, not touching a bowling ball over the summer and barely ever practicing I'm pretty proud of the 2 300 games I've bowled in my last three years and the rings mean something to me. It makes me wonder how good I could be if I actually bowled a few leagues and practiced every so often.

Maybe later on in life when I don't have a super sweet daughter and a new son to spend time with or who doesn't want to spend time with me.

That's for sure.  I know guys that compete on the Senior Tour that still wear their rings.  For most people, it's a nice reminder of a nice accomplishment.  For those who want to elevate themselves to a falsely superior level above "house hack", rings don't matter.  They only bowl in tournaments, scratch leagues, blah, blah.  Ask these "tournament hacks" how many tourneys they have won and the answer will be none.

Ladies and gentlemen, you earn a ring don't let anybody denigrate the joy and sense of pride you feel when you wear it.

Props to you for a very eloquent post.  I agree wholeheartedly.  Nothing more to add, except congrats to abnormal on his 2nd tree hundred & good luck on getting an 8.

GREAT post that I agree 100% with..

My earlier quote saying the rings dont mean much to most people was just the sense I have gotten from reading posts from alot of people on here as well as alot of people that I bowl with.. IMO, you should be very proud of shooting ANY honor score, regardless where it is or the situation.

NOTE: I also edited my original post to read what I was trying to say..

A 300 is a 300 and an 800 is an 800, period..

Congrats on your 300 game and enjoy wearing your ring !

It took a lot of hard work to earn my 300 game ring and my 800 series ring. I wear one or the other every day and it's always an attention getter when i run into someone. I don't see the need for multiple 300 rings but to each his own.

I think rings still hold value to some people. My buddy Scott has worn his 800 ring since the day he got it, but he's dorky like that. I don't wear my 300 ring but I don't like to wear rings in general, and I dated a girl who still won't give my 298 ring back because I got it sized for my pinkie so she acts like she shot it
