I broke my foot last night at the bowling center when I slipped from a step between the pit and the concourse. I have to go see an orthopedic doctor this afternoon for a cast, so right now I'm sitting here with my foot elevated and wrapped in a temporary splint.
Good news is that it's not a major break and should heal nicely. It was after the 9th frame of my 3rd game. I finished out the game, even though pivoting on the broken foot hurt like hell (I figured it was just a sprain at the time). I did shoot 673 to finish, though.
6-8 weeks off my feet. So much for the 5K I was planning to run in April...

Sorry to hear abuot your foot. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
-
Sorry to hear that.
Keep on practicing on the lanes in your head. In other words, visualize your form and approach, and when you're ready to roll the orb again, you won't have missed a step (perhaps even improved).
The mom of my best friend when I was a youth convinced me to practice mental visualization after I had severely twisted my ankle and ripped cartilage while doing a run one day. To my surprise, when I was able to get back to the lanes, I had improved.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

So, you're not going to sue the center?

Sorry to hear about that. 6-8 weeks shouldn't be too rough. You should see if you could pick up one of those remote controlled bowling balls from 900 Global. Now that would be sweet!

I hate it when people leave their banana peels all over the place. Good luck with the recovery. You'll be back before you know it.

Man, I thought you might have broken your foot years ago trying to pull it out of your mouth

Seriously, though, having missed parts of three seasons recently with assorted injuries, and sitting out this season entirely to try to allow myself to heal and recover completely, I definitely can feel your pain...wishing you a speedy recovery, but at the same time don't try getting back out there too soon either...

Id be more bummed about not being able to run!

Tough break.
Enjoy the time away from the lanes, it will help re-energize you for next year.
-
You drank so much you couldn't even walk, yet still shot 673?

Sorry to hear this, hope you have a quick recovery.

There's nothing stopping you from getting one of those ramps and wheeling your way up to the foul line each frame.

Actually, that was one of the first things I thought about after the doc told me the foot was broken. It'll be at least 5 weeks before I can run again. The 5K is in 4 weeks.
SUCKS!!

Not to mention that you don't really want to do high-impact running on a recently healed foot.
Sucks, man. Get well for The Gathering, at least!

I wish you a speedy recovery.
I was out for almost 4 months when I broke my foot - took 8 weeks for the doc to realize it wasn't going to heal and needed a screw/pin!

Add one to that sentiment. It was a pleasure to meet you last year, and I'm looking forward to it again this year.
