lanes 'transitioning'... how do you guys follow them?
« on: February 11, 2005, 06:56:34 AM »
i've seen alot of this lately due to the poor weather we are having in texas. the lanes will change with a quickness.

what do you guys do when you adjust with the lane transitions?

i don't care who makes it, how much it costs, or how sexy the ball looks. can i carry the 7 and level the deck with a $60 ball?

One of two things:
Move deeper and swing the ball
Pull a weaker ball and square up some, play a bit straighter.

I try to:

Move left or right
change hand positions
change speed/revs
switch balls

in that order.

i've had luck with 'chasing' the oil, but sometimes i find the ball starts hitting soft when i do that. i go back to the old mark, go high and split/washout... then i get lost with a quickness.

When lanes are transitioning quickly, I try to stay ahead of the change.  I'll throw one or two shots flush, and move in a board before I throw that first ball a little high.  Or, I'll take out a ball that has a mellower (is that even a word?) reaction because those tend to notice changes less.

When the heads starting breaking down and carrydown starts to kick in, I add more side roll and move left if this does not work. I move between 1-5 board and play a weaker ball both works about equally last monday i more success with a 2000 smooth Track Rule just adding more side roll shooting 703 for my last 3 games.
