Since everyone else is doing it, i did it.
Notice how my first step goes to the left. Im working to get rid of that. And I already stated about my kinda short approach.

Tips and suggestions are welcome!

your approach seems too quick *feet* and you definitely drift. but does this approach work for you? i watch many of the pros drift, so for some people it works out great.
i always stay low, check my mark, check my feet, then check the hit. i dont drift but hell, it seems to work for others.

Well since this footage was shoot, I have slowed my approach down a lot.

I would be concerned about the length of steps rather than the direction. Not bad for a windup, though.

That windup's awful slow. With a guy on third, make sure he doesn't take off on that first step . . . you'll end up pitching right into a squeeze play.
Seriously... think about compacting things a little more. The drift doesn't bother me. The armswing seems jerky. Smooth it out and you're settin' pretty good.

CHANnEL .. you threw a STRIKE and got CRITICIZED .. good thing you didn't leave PINS! My comment would be .. GREAT .. do that EVERY TIME and we'll see you on TV!

Stand left, throw right.

Got an awful lot of loft there too. THUNK!
How do you do on other oil patterns or inconsistant patterns?
Without a B & C game to that grip it & rip it, you might be stuck being a house bowler.
They all went down though, so I guess that's all that counts.
You style just reminds me an awful lot of so many youth bowlers I see now days, Big hook = Big score.
One last thing, in the video it looks like your almost 2 feet from the foul line, if you're there regularly you should consider moving your approach forward a bit.
-
Bjaardker,
The lanes were a little dry, that loft helped me get it down a little further.
I fixed the foul line thing, im only about 8 inches from it now.
How should I go about smoothing it out like everyone says i need too?

Here's what John Jowdy says, "Low & Long". Instead of hitting up on the ball to get maximum rev, think about getting it out onto the lane. It just looks like you're gripping it a little too hard & that's causing the thumb to clear late, your fingers to "hit up" on the ball, and the THUNK on the lane. Maybe thinking of projecting the ball into the lane instead of over it.
Bottom line, the ball should never be travelling upward when it leaves your hand. You may think that you need to rip it to get those revs, but you'll be surprised. The combination of the ball being on the lane longer along with revs from a clean release will actually out hook the fling.
Out...not up.
Out...not up.
Low & long.
Low & long.
-
I could care less about revs. Im not trying to rev the ball, thats just whats natural.
So just let it go smoother? Oh and, what about my steps?? What exactly should I do to those.

I consider myself BURIED .. and I step BACK to your expert OPINION! Didn't know I was HURTING the guy by telling him THE RESULTS WERE GOOD!

Channel Surfer,
You are a mess. Your approach is in need of a major overhaul. Where do we start..? The size of your steps should be like they are when you're walking down the street. Those things that you do shouldn't even be called steps.
Now, it's OK to be sideways, but then you should start sideways. This way, you're already in position from when you start till when you finish.
Also, your slide foot should be facing your target when you slide, not twisted to the left at the line. Your whole body should be facing your target throughout your approach and follow through.
You're also finishing about a foot to 1 1/2 ft. behind the foul line. You should be at the foul line when you release the ball. When you work on your steps, and after increasing them in length, you should be closer to the foul line. So this will correct itself naturally, I hope.
We're going to stop right here with my advice. Because this is plenty for you to be working on at one time. Remember though, that your average will probably go down as your working on your game.
Good luck and don't despair. Because after you have the kinks worked out, your average will sky rocket up higher than where it is now. =:^D

If that IMPLIES you need NO IMPROVEMENT .. I apologize .. cause my feeling is ALL OF US NEED IMPROVEMENT .. I'm glad I didn't say GREAT SHOT (on your strike) I wonder what that would IMPLY?
I guess the absence of derogatory statements was an acceptance of the presentation .. I assumed it meant I wasn't capable of comment .. SORRY again!

I second that. I use to loft the ball quite a lot (not as much as you though), and it really hurts you. I fixed it and now I set it down way better. I am going to try to get a video of myself too and see what everyone thinks of me.
