I have heard alot of people say best thing to do is to inquire a small business loan from the small business association and as far as lessons go you can go to the kegel training center for i think 3 days to a weeks time frame to learn all the ins and outs. i hope this helps.

I think Kegel holds their classes in Florida.  IBPSIA seems to hold their classes in Las Vegas.

Once you have your shop and training, you REALLY need to focus on customer service. Today, with the internet and probably other shops in your area, a few dollars may mean if you get a sale or 2, but what better bowlers look for is good quality service. If you can provide something as good or better than what they are currently getting at roughly the same price point, or even better, a little better price, you have a shot at getting them to convert to you.

One thing you need to think of....this is going o be my 4th season in business and 2nd in a bowling alley (was freestanding the first 2 years of business) profit margins the first few years are low (you can't charge more than established shops) and you probably have more bills than those established shops as well...so you may not make money for the first year or 2...

Customer Service is a big thing.  Knowing what your client base is and wants as well as being able to keep them happy.  A couple of other things.  VENDOR RELATIONS!!!   Finding the right distributors is sometimes critical.  Not only to get good prices but to receive inventory in a timely manner.  Backorders do nothing except make many customers upset.  We deal with as many as 10 different distributors across the country for various products.  Next is to have reliable equipment.  If your spinner or mill is down there is a problem.  Even the ball resurface machine takes some maintenance.  Kaufmann scales are $700 or more.  Pitch gauges can break.  Buy good stuff.

Well, first, you serve an apprenticeship of 2 - 10 years at a good shop, learning how to drill, including attending IBPSIA classes;

Then, second, you win the lottery  ... (, but not that funny.);

Then you find a place that provides you with the bowlers that need you;

It's all down hill from that point on.
