My Video, coments please.
« on: March 06, 2005, 04:18:51 PM »
Just trying this to see how it works out.
First up sorry if its a little dark. I tried to make the video accessible to all be reducing quality.
My shot is fresh oil, just over light oil flat to 40/42 feet. Wood lanes.
First shot is with my Thing from about feet at 25 with target 10.
Second is Thing Returns played more up the boards from about feet at 17 to target 7. Slight change in hand position.

I know Im a bit of a fluffer but any comments would be appreciated as my coach has moved to pastures new.
I know I need to try to keep my hand below the equator of the ball and that is something Im working on.
Also any idea to my rev rate and speed in each of the deliveries.
Thanks to all that look and especially to those who comment.

Also if charlest or omegabowler get to look. I asked about the Absolute Power and about drilling. I will be using it on much more oil so how would you recommend drilling it based on how I throw. I will double check with my own driller but ideas would be very welcomed.

Star, I like the alley, they actually got the flags up..

bowling looks good, smoother than me (d'oh)
I did notice the finishing point of your feet changes, maybe just to do with the open frame shot, i.e. not seeing the point or something?

Edit: didnt read the bit about the different balls, sorry

I agree with ebonite, try to stay underneath a little more, and mabey bend your knee a little more.  That will create a little more power to your game.  You have a very smooth approach and nice release, just need to add a little more.

Thanks so far.
I know I have to stay under it more but I am struggling to get it right.
What Im trying to do is get my thumb about on the equator line of the ball so my fingers would be at the bottom. Any ideas on drills to work on to get that?
I think its why I tend to clip the thumbhole from time to time.

I think you have a really nice game.  You might want to look at the push away, rather than pushing up and out try to stay a little more level.  If you can do that and keep your arm nice and loose you might be able to get down at the line a touch more and that might make it easier to stay behind the ball.

Just my observations and thoughts.

Most of what I see has already been mentioned such as the pushaway vs. you pushing up, staying behind the ball longer.

However, I also feel you should try to develop a better knee bend in order to get a bit lower at the line. This should help your pushaway and in turn will give you more leverage at the line and generate more power.

Big, big thanks to all of you.
Pushing up has always been one of my problems as I say. It gets out of hand sometimes. It started as a little bump to get my swing going(over the bar idea). Now its kind of a lift.
I will work on knee bend, on some of the other shots I have on my computer it is deeper and I do seem to get under and through the ball better when I do it, all I need now is to do it all the time. Repitition is so hard when you dont play every day and especially when you only start the game when youre the wrong side of 35.
Thanks for the comments on my armswing, its the thing that my coach used to say was the great thing about my game. Having so straight a swing definatly digs you out of a few holes.
Once again thanks everyone so far.

The only thing that I would change is that you do get down at the foul line, bend your knee and get down with the ball. Also, a bit more in the follow through department. Your follow through is killing all the speed and revs that could have, not to mention better reaction and ability to read the lanes. The to the follow through is don't force it forcing it will kill your arm and your fingers.
