I never give up the chance to bowl in a sweeper and even when I know my chances of winning anything are slim I just like to bowl period...so that is why I do it. Can't stand 9 pin no tap but because I love to bowl I do it anyways. I have shot 850 with handicap and won it before and shot over 800 a couple years ago and won nothing.
The problem is how 9 pin no tap seems to favor the type of bowler depending on how you set the rules. If you do 9 pin no tap with handicap, chances are the higher ave bowlers will lose to lower average bowlers. I've seen guys that can't make a 10 pin to save thier life and get a strike for leaving 9 pins and win in these things. I've seen guys have career nights when in the regular season did nothing.
One year ago a guy shot 900...and obviously won.
If you do no handicap which we voted on last night then the lower average bowlers are screwed. Even myself that has been struggling can't hit the pocket every single time to save my life and those that averaged less then me have slim to no chance in scratch 9 pin no tap. Last night I kid you not we had only I say 20-30 men participating. Of just these men there was no joke 7 300 games. In fact one guy happened to shoot a real non 9 pin 300 and was debating if it counted...have no idea....secretary looking into that.
Then it dawned on me...why do we seperate women and men into different catagories? I'm sorry, if we are "usbc" as one then there shouldn't be a men and women catagory.
The real gripe is when the house puts a easy shot and you shoot 230 the first game and you already know you lost sure makes you wonder what is the point of 9 pin no tap.
