Natural compared to the Orge urethane
« on: July 27, 2009, 09:07:30 AM »
I will first say, I did not throw either of these bolwing balls.

The person who drills my bolwing balls locally drilled a Natural a few weeks ago for himself since we bowl on a fairly light oil shot and even the Mars hooked a ton for him.

The Natural really helped his scoring on the league shot we have.  Its a six game set. Bowl three move bowl three more.  The Natural almost hooked too much for his release, but he was able to move deep enough to allow the Natural to work well for him.

Then he drilled the Orge urethane and took a touch of the polish off the ball.  He said the shell on the Orge urethane was very, very hard.  This guy hooks the Blue Dot quite a lot, but the Orge urethane never read the lane.  Just went straight.  After bowling with this guy for three uears I was suprised he could not get this ball to move.

I'm not reviewing the bowling balls for myself, I just read in another post that some were looking to purchasing one of these bowling balls.  Watching these two bowling balls being thrown, I would have to say the Orge urethane would be good on toast and the Natrural would be good on light, short oil.

Nicanor,

I'd say that, in general, both drilled the same, relatively strong, given their nature and what they were designed to do, the Natural should cover light to medium-light oil and the Ogre Urethane should cover dry to light oil. A lot depends on the drilling and the bowler's release.

With your ball speed, you might never need a ball that requires as much dry as the OU. And you would probably be able to use the Natural with a string drilling such as 4x4 on light oil.

Maybe your driller didn't encounter enough dry for the OU or had ball speed similar to yours. Possibly he drilled it too weak. It does have a high RG (2.6) and a fairly low differential, .030, which results is low flare (2-3"). If he used, oh, say, a 5" pin to PAP, he'd get even less flare.

The Ogre Urethane IS supposed to be a hard shelled solid urethane in the 78 - 80 degree of hardness range. If he needed to sand it, there was probably too much oil or he has too much ball speed.

Charlest,

My driller's ball speed is slow in comparison to my ball speed and his release is stronger, or at least he is covering a lot more boards then I am.I don'tt know how the two were drilled, I'll check tomorrow if he brings them bth.

If I were going to compare the Orge urethane to another ball, I would compare it to the pink Hammer.  I threw the pink Hammer for a while at a couple of tournaments, and it was great on toast.  The cover on the pink was extremely hard also.  That is how Jeff described drilling the Orge urethane.

The Natural read the break point very well and he scored well.  Jeff was playing about 13 out to 8 at the break point and carried very well with the Natural.  When he tested the Orge urethane on the same lanes, same line, he didn't have a wrinkle and he swings a blue Dot.  I can play a similar line with my Virtual Energy that he plays with his Natural.

Hope all is well.
