NEAT Pads vs. Sia Air Pads

Any thoughts on both of these pads and which ones you had a easier time doing surface adjustment with? I haven't used sia air pads for a few years but I remember they worked really well, almost better than abralon pads. So, I don't know if anything has changed with those pads. I have two NEAT pad (the "N" and"E" pad) but for some reason it seems kind of difficult to sand them to have a good grip on them and doesn't seem quite as effective. It may be just me and I need to give it more time to get use to them. I do everything by hand since I don't have a ball spinner at home. Just wanted see from others what they're opinions are between the two.

Your observations are pretty accurate. By hand, the NEAT pads are going to be more awkward to use than Siaair/Abralon because they're so much thinner. However, if you use a spinner, the NEAT pads are fairly easy to control and are just as effective as Siaair/Abralon. 
 
If you want to continue with NEAT pads by hand, consider using a CAB to hold the pad. You'll get the leverage you need.

 
I used NEAT pads for a few years but have settled back to Siaair. I prefer the thicker foam backing for water retention on the spinner. But like a lot of things in bowling, it comes down to personal preference.

I use a mitt that has Velcro on one side for the NEAT pads.

 For Abralon/Siaair pads, I have a cup that works better. I love the surface I get with the NEAT pads. It seems to be more consistent that I was getting with Abralon/Siaair.

The thing to remember is, the NEAT pads do not need much pressure to do the job and LOTS of water.

Plus NEAT pads outlast Siaair and Abralon by a LOT! They're almost as good as Trizact pads.

NEAT pads do last a lot longer, but I can't find them for less that $10.00 per pad. At that price, Siaair is a better value......
 
But, if you can turn me onto better NEAT pad pricing, I'm all ears.

NEAT pads never caught on like Abralon and Siaair, probably due to that price differential.
So, nope, I haven't found than for less (one guy sold the set of 4 for less than that, but I don't see him on there any more)
BUT
I have been getting about 40 uses from my 4000 grit NEAT pad, vs 3-5 for an Abralon or Siaair pad. That's quite a ratio for the grit level that seems to wear out fastest. Unless you're paying $1 per pad for Siaair or Abralon. NEAT pads seem to be a good value.

Best price I have seen is BowlerDeals.com

They have a set for 33.95 for the four. Steven, they are in CA, so you will have to pay sales tax, just like me.

At 500/1000 grit (my majority use), I've been getting about 5 good uses from my Abralon/Jost pads and about 7-8 good uses from Siaair. At roughly $2.00 per pad for Siaair, I'm getting more fresh pad surface (through 5 pads) than I would from one equivalent NEAT. I understand that it's close in value, but everything else being equal, I prefer working with Siaair.
 
However, if I could pick up NEAT pads for roughly $7.00, I'd consider making the switch.

I'd like to find a place that sells them for less than $10 per. I think it's solely because they're just not that popular.

Funny, I can get Trizact foam discs less than $10 per and they outlast all the others, but I've only found them in 1000, 3000 and 5000 grit in boxes of 15.

It's been a while since I've used NEAT, so maybe I'll give them another try. Thanks for the tip on BowlerDeals.

I'll take a look at the CAB blocks today and see about maybe getting one since I have an important bowling tournament in less than two weeks. I'm big on surface adjustments for tournaments so maybe those blocks will help. Cheap they may be and that may their problem.
When I used them to hold NEAT pads and I tried to pull the pad off the velcro, the velcro came off the plastic body. Not good. Better off paying extra for the real CABs @ $33.

Agreed. I've had my CABs from Jayhawkbowling for about 15 years. They're worth the money.

I've used the innovative CAB for almost 5 years, with all kinds of pads including NEAT, in fact mostly the NEAT pads nowadays... Never a single problem... I don't know, maybe I just got a good one.... :)
