PBA Experience patterns

Need some suggestions. This Sunday will mark the first time I bowl on a PBA Experience lane condition. I won't find out what pattern it is until Saturday night, so I won't have time to come on here before the tournament. Here is what I'll be taking:


Strike Zone - 3 1/2" pin to PAP, pin next to ring. MB 5" from PAP. 1500 (Valentino pad)
Clutch - 4 1/4" pin to PAP, pin over bridge. MB 4" from PAP. 4000 abralon.
S-75 - 5 1/4" pin to PAP, pin under bridge. MB 5" from PAP. 2000 polished.
Break Point - 4 3/4" pin to PAP, pin in bridge. MB 5.5" from PAP. 4000 abralon.
Burn - 5" from PAP, pin over bridge. 2000 abralon.
Fast - 5" from PAP, pin over bridge. 1500 polished.
Ice Storm

On the side: (can take if needed)

Sauce - 4 1/4" pin to PAP, pin over bridge. 4000 abralon.
Jazz - 4 1/4" pin to PAP, pin over bridge. 4000 abralon.
Link - 4" from PAP, pin under bridge. 4000 abralon.

I am a stroker, around 250-275 RPM. 15 MPH ball speed. Good axis rotation. I know the patterns play differently depending on whether they are wood or synthetic lanes among other things. However I'm looking to be as prepared as possible, so any suggestions are appreciated.

I'd start with the S-75 and take the Link with you just because they are pin under and you are going to want something that rolls even.  Straighter is greater on sport conditions.

Well,

if I were you & transport for the balls is not a problem, I would take all with me ... If you don''t know what''s out there untill you arrive at the center, a lot is possible. You can be facing a short pattern with lots of friction or a long that plays very tight. Also the surface of the lanes will make it completely different. So just come in as prepared as possible, in this case: bring all you can take, from the moment you know the pattern you can toss the ''bad'' balls away.

Also, you can maybe take at least 1 ball to 1000 Abralon, seeing you got a lot of equipment at 4000 abralon... off course if you really like this finish: leave it, but you can maybe take one of your reserves, the Sauce, to 1000 Abralon.

Just my 2 cent, .. I can be completely off here, but that''s what I would do ...

Agree with kmanestor22.

Personally and generally speaking, I find that stuff that works great for me on house shots doesn't work that great for me on PBAX, and vice versa.

I'm thinking the odds are you'll have better luck with the Strike Zone, S-75 and Link while having less luck with the Burn.

Oh yeah... Spares rule in PBAX. If you can't throw one of your strike balls dead straight, don't forget that Ice Storm.

Will I need any ball stronger than the Strike Zone at 1500? I wouldn''t mind taking it down to 1000, but would like to start out with that ball and if it''s too strong, I''d have to go to a different ball. Of all the balls I have, I am most comfortable with the Strike Zone and S-75.


Also forgot to mention that I have a Resurgence drilled 4 3/4" from my PAP at 1000 abralon I could used if the Strike Zone isn''t moving.

It is tough to bowl on those lane conditions for the first time.

It took me 12 games on each pattern to get comfortable.

No matter what ball you use, take notes.  About everything.
Ball reaction.  Release.  Form.  How you felt.  Etc.

Then review these notes at a later time.

Be careful how much equipment you throw at it.  Sometimes,
bowlers use too many balls and do not even get a good feel for what
they are trying to accomplish.

pack your accuracy and a spare ball, let the ball you do choose talk when you feel you threw a good shot, adjust from there. Like everyone else said, more even rolling equipment and not being locked into the "way the pros play"

Doesn't matter which pattern you bowl, you'll need to be accurate and in most cases, you'll use something that rolls a little more even. Just try not to overthink it.

For the long patterns, I recommend something sanded to 500 grit Abralon or even a little more coarse.  Throw down ten, straight at the pocket.  Within a game there will be a burn spot and you will be able to move inside that.

While what you say is true: if you can get everyone on the pair to play the lanes the "correct" way, these shots get a ton easier.  When you get yahoos that won't play ball, that's when it's a real challenge.
