Title: Need advice between balls
Post by: deviant on February 06, 2014, 01:26:42 PM
So, 2 questions..

1. Whats the positive / negative things between Polished and Matte balls?

2. Out of these balls, Which would you recommend and why? 2 new and 3 old-ones that im interested on

- Brunswick (Mastermind Genius) (Polished)
- DV8 (Ruckus Feud) (Matte)

- Brunswick (Mastermind) (Matte)
- Storm (Aura Paranormal) (Matte)
- Storm (Lucid) (Matte)

Or any other recommendation?
I normally stand somewhere in the middle, aiming towards second or third arrow from right.

I need a ball with a huge turn before hitting the pins..
Im currently on a Storm Crossroad, its pretty dead now duo.

Sorry for a bad english.

First of all, your English is actually pretty good.  Better than a lot of people that speak it as a first language, matter of fact.  Out of all of those, I'd probably suggest the Mastermind.  It's the most versatile, meaning you can get several different reactions out of it depending on how you adjust the surface.  You can polish it and get a sharper reaction, or you can dull it and get more hook.

1.  Polished - Usually means more length (more skid) and this usually results in more backend hook since the hook phase was delayed.  This can be either good or bad depending on the bowler (style, ball speed) and lane conditions.  Bad, if the ball skids past the breakpoint.  Also can result in more over/under ball reaction.  Good if it helps your style to get to your breakpoint or for lighter oil conditions.  Think hockey stick reaction.

Matte - usually means a bit earlier ball reaction and usually more predictable, controllable.  Can result in ball hooking too early for some bowlers or lane conditions.  Think more of an arc reaction.   )

2.  Since I am not using any of the listed balls, I will leave that for others.

3.  Storm Crossroad  - have you tried to remove the oil from the ball and resurfacing?

As far as my reply to #1 above, it may not be entirely or fully correct, so others may correct me.  (Charlest, perhaps?)
