Need an equipment suggestion
« on: September 20, 2004, 02:08:07 PM »
Ok, just starting to get back into the swing of things with bowling, after having been out of the loop for a few years, so bear with me.

At the moment, I throw two older balls.  My main ball is a Combat Zone.  I can turn this ball on a dime (I crank the ball excessively) and it works well for me.  For corner pins and some other tougher spares, I will use my old Purple Hammer (I love this ball to death), as I do not have a plastic ball.

What I am looking for is a suggestion as to what I can purchase out there that would "fit" me.  My style has always been to use something that enables me to get a lot of snap in the back end, and I would like to continue with something along those lines.  I usually start out standing two dots left of center on approach, swinging the ball out to somewhere around the 5-7 board, and going long before a snap back in.

I am open to any and all suggestions - anything is appreciated.

My Hammer Power Diesel works pretty well on that same line, you should take a look at thier website.

What would be helpful to us would be if you know what type of shot you regularly bowl on (long oil, short oil, number of feet, is it a THS, reverse block, etc...) as well as what style of bowler you are and your average speed. Then I'm sure more people can help you with particular equipment suggestions.

Storm equipment is good for skid/snap reaction if you like that in your equipment, but it's tough to make suggestions unless we know what type of oil shot you bowl on (heavy, medium or light)...

For the most part, I will be bowling at 3 centers.  Two of them oil long, light-to-medium.  The other is short, heavy (I think).

I have not had my ball speed checked in a while, and only two of the houses around here track speed at the lane.  If I remember right, the last time my speed was checked it was in the high 17mph range, but I was erratic with the speed at which I threw the ball (which I will be working to correct).

Sorry that I don't have more information for you here.  I'll have a lot more in the next couple of weeks.
