need ball for extreme carry down
« on: November 07, 2006, 05:22:07 PM »
I need a ball for extreme carrydown. The bowling oils the lanes for three leagues but before any leagues bowl some school play on the lanes and really mess up the oil.

any sugguestions would be nice

How heavy is the oil to start with?  The conventional wisdom for carrydown is duller, early-rolling stuff.  Since there aren't many dry boards downlane for the cover to grab, having the ball pick up a roll while still in the oil will help get the job done.  Maybe a light-load particle with an 800-1000-grit surface.  Pin below the fingerline.

oil is 35ft buffed to 40
then another layer of 35 placed on top
there are three leagues that night and they dont have time between leagues to re-oil

the funny thing is that i bowl in the early league
kids bowl there with plastic and bumpers right after the oil is layed out
so what i end up seeing is really a mess

If they're trying to oil for three leagues, it's probably at least medium-heavy.  As I said, probably a dullish, solid particle drilled for early reaction.  Your favorite company probably has a ball like that.  You could redrill your WMB and put the pin below the fingers and further right, may be under ring instead of over middle.  If that's not working, then there's probably not as much oil as you think.
